Over the years I have followed this problem on this site. This weekend it happened. Big Increase in RPM without acceleration between 25 and 35 MPH. You know it when it happens.
When it happened I guess it was like I was prepared. I guess in the back of my mind I though that maybe I had a good one.
Brought it in today. They drove it and came back with the transmission had failed.
Basically the guy said, "let me see what we can do, take this loaner. Lets not worry before it is time."
Just got the call and I am going to be out $400. They are going to pick up the cost on the rest. As well I will get a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty on this new/referbished model. Which is great because I needed this car to last through Dec 2009.
I don't know if this is a good deal or bad. However, I think based on some of the write ups, this is not a bad cost considering.
My X has 86K miles and I am the original driver. All my work was done at this dealership with multiple transmission fluid changes.
Anyway just another X owner that got bit. |

| $400 doesnt sound bad at all. And you cant beat having a warranty on those replaced parts. |

| When my 2002 MDX tranny went out on me about 1 1/2 yrs ago, the dealer didn't charge me a penny for a rebuilt one. I was way past the warranty. They also gave me a new loaner for the 7 days it took. I would suggest that you may want to have them check with the regional rep about doing the whole job for free, as they have been doing many times the last couple of yrs. Those who got full reimbursment after the warranty expired usually got the standard 12K/1 yr warranty on the replacment tranny. Those who got the 36K/3yr warranty usually paid about $1K. |
