| I have about 5600 miles and brought in my X to dealer for the first service. I was charged $79.95 plus tax. Does this sound about right to you guys? |

was it just an oil change or did they rotate your tires too? |

$80 for, basically, an oil change? Doesn't quite pass the 'sniff 'rest for me. Take a look at the maintenance schedule and have them quote you for only what is in the manual. They will try and pile on extras that are simply not needed. Most of the items shown as "inspect..." you can do yourself.
And last, make sure you maintain your car with the normal schedule. Almost no one qualifies under the severe schedule, regardless what the dealer says. Take a close look. |

The service came with oil change, tire rotation, wheel balance (59.95) and check all fluid levels. |

| 29.99, oil change, tire rotation, top of fluids and loaner for 5 days ( I was lazy and didn't go to the dealership) |

$34.99 for oil change and fluid top off. I replaced my tires and get free rotation/balance from Discount Tire.
If I did the rotate/balance at the stealer, it would have been $90 total! |

| I got the first one free at the dealer. Second I believe would be about $50. |

| I haven't done those yet but if I remember right, the sales guy in the dealership said it's $49 for oil change and $100 for tire rotation! I was about the fall off of my chair! Question is, can I take my MDX to other places for those services aside from the stealership? |

There is no requirement that you have to take it to the dealership for an oil change or tire rotation. Getting it done elsewhere has no impact on your warranty as long as you use the recommended oil. Our dealer was running a special last month $17.70 for an oil change :) My GTI which uses synthetic the stealship wants $80, I do it myself for half. $100 to rotate tires thats rape! |
|

| $37 in Springfield Acura, NJ. I think that includes oil change and visual inspection(tire pressure and stuff). |

My local stealer charges $130 for oil change & tire rotation.
DENY!
Went home bought Mobil 1 & filters ($40) & rotate the tires myself. :) |

| I have to factor in the drive to and from the dealership etc ...but i am thinking it's cheaper to just change it myself when the time comes ...I don't want their standard oil and filter change anyway...will be using another brand ...and I refuse to pay for tire rotation !! ..we will take the time to put on a running board or BSM etc etc. but we won't rotate our own tires :p ..lol ..never !! |

Not if you have this set, then you WILL WANT to rotate your tires. MUAAAHAAAAAA!
P.S.
1. Air Impact Wrench. Max torque: 460ft/lbs, 8,000PRM
2. 4,500 lbs Hydrolic Heavy Duty Floor Jack

I will get mine done at the Honda dealership here in town (we don't have an Acura dealership in town). 39.99 for oil change / 17.99 for tire rotation.
Question, do you have your tires rotated at each servicing (oil changes) or every other one? |
|
|
| LionSpeed |
| I think it's between 5000 & 7000 miles for tire rotation. Oil change is around 3000-5000 miles for me at least. |

I paid wayyyy too little; I do routine maintenance myself. That way I know the quality of the parts and labor that were used for the work.
Mobil 1 10W-30 every 7500 miles, along with new oil filter and tire rotation.
The X is a very easy car for a do-it-yourself oil change. It's high enough off the ground that it's easy to crawl underneath and get to the drain plug without raising it, assuming the person who does it has a normal BMI. |

| 9,242 KM (5,705 miles) Monitor at 10% oil life remaining. "A" service - Oil & filter only. Refused the tire rotation as I was installing winter tires same day. CDN$48.97 all in. |

How do you reset the maintenance minder? Or is that automatically reset when you replace the oil? |

| I usually do my own oil change but I had the first one free so I brought it to the dealer. It looks like the second oil change will also be free since they chipped the paint on my side molding. They also use Castrol GTX for the oil :( |

I would like to know this as well. |

| Damn! Some of you guys burn through your oil! I'm at 30% and have 6,200 miles so far on my X. I also have an average of 20.4 mpg so far. That might account for the oil longevity. |

Actually I think it's not that smart to know when oil quality goes down. It simply counts highway miles differently compared to city miles (or rather cold/warm engine). |

I think your oil service interval has been reset at least once already. The X's oil service "computer" decreases 10% for every 750 miles, rain or shine, city or hwy. It's designed to ensure oil changes are performed at least every 7500 miles. |

My local mechanic said they can do the oil change but doesn't know how to turn off the A1 service lights.
Anyone here knows how to turn off the A1 service warning? |

Ouch, that's pricey. IIRC, my dealer charges $40 for an oil change, not sure how much they charge for a rotation and balance. I have to wonder why they balance tires at the time they do a rotation? In either case I plan on doing my own oil changes and rotation. Yes, I save a few bucks doing it myslef, but more importantly I save a lot of time. A trip to the dealer will be at least 2 hours. I can change the oil and rotate tires in under an hour. Even if I factor in the free car wash and vacuum, I'm still ahead. |

| Some stealers even charge you for tire rotation ($79) without touching the tires. What I call carelessness for some are just shear lazy. Under their eyes, we (consumers) are idiots. Of course there are few honest & reliable service depts out there but good luck finding one. Best bet is to do it yourself & save time, money & headache. Those retards might break other things more than they can fix. My $0.02. |

I was told that it was a sensor in the oil and adjusted the % to the oil condition.
Is that not true then?
But then again I had to take to the dealer for the second time at 10,500 miles.
So for sure is not by mileage.
Mine is a 2007.
Thanks |

I have no clue at what point I should be getting a warning, but as other posters have shown, they got to 10% before 6,000 miles and I'm at 30% over 6,000 miles. I'm more inclined to thinking there is a sensor.
