i'm going to purchase a 2008 MDX tech soon. from what i have read here and elsewhere, it seems like i should be able to get a deal within $1000 above invoice. correct?

my other question regards roof rails and the tow hitch, which i plan on having added. what are fair prices for these items? i didn't see either of these itemized out on any of the cars on the lot -- roof rails were bundled as a "package" (with accessories i don't want like hood protector) for about $2500.

thanks!

Lots of info on this site about accessories. You can get the best parts prices at www.hondaacuraworld.com ( a sponsor of this site). You can also find the installation directions at that site. Both of these items can be done by a handy person, but they are not fool proof.

The $2,500 price for the roof rack includes about $1,900 of labor and mark up for a one hour or less job.

Best price for ana Acura hitch installation with parts of about $850-900. Usual quote is $1,100- 1,200. After market hitches are cheaper, but come with compromises like inability to use a full size spare, or butt ugly appearance.

Search, and you will be enlightened.

thanks shootist. that is helpful info on the hitch.

i couldn't find dealer pricing for these items in my searches, unfortunately. i'd rather pay for the professional install but want to keep the price reasonable.

Dealer prices sometimes differ with labour costs ...but if you want the prices of seperate parts you can check acura.com ..under mdx then under accessories...but I assure you the cost of these things will be cheaper as shootist said if you buy them from Tim or elsewhere and install them yourself ...the pdf instructions for installation are also on hondaacuraworld.com so check them out before you think these jobs are too hard ...99% of the time they are not...even for a person with the dreaded all thumbs syndrome :p

i'll definitely check the pdfs. and knowing the online cost is helpful, even if i decide to go thru the dealer. i have some idea of "fair" markup.

now to see how close i can get to invoice ...

thanks again for the input!

Does the paint on the mirrors and bumpers match the body? Mine doesn't and the dealer is on his third attempt at new mirrors with matching paint.
