I dropped off my MDX in the morning yesterday, for them to fix the whistling noise caused when turning on the circulating air. It was my second time taking it in, and based on others who have posted about their issue, I didn't think they'd be able to resolve it. At least they gave me a 2008 MDX w/ tech as a loaner while the figure it out...funny it had almost as many miles as my 2007!

Well to my surprise, the service advisor called me later in the afternoon to tell me that they fixed it by making sure the flap closes all the way. I didn't ask the details of how they did this, but I'm glad they were able to resolve it. I tested it out by driving on the highway between 70-80mph and loved the fact that there was no more whistle!

I am glad to hear that they fixed the whistle. But I would recommed you turn off your a/c and make sure the vent is closing. With your a/c off and recirculating air on no air should be blowing in from the outside and with recirculating air off air should off course come in.

When I took mine in for the whistle they basically disconected my recirculating air. The light would come on when pressed but the vent would not close.

I filled for lemon law in Florida for failure to fix my recirculating whistle 3 times. They have contacted me and have setup a metting with Acura's district rep. I hope they can fix mine too. I really don't want to have to continue to step two (BBB Autoline Mediation), but if they can't fix it I have no choice.

At my third fix for them disconecting the recirculating air(to stop the whistle), the work-order said the tech "repaired recirc. lever and tested all up to specs". After they repaired my recirculating air up to specs the whistle reapeared.

Name and number of mechanic? Ummm...I took it to the dealership (Duval Acura in Jacksonville, FL) where I bought my MDX, so I don't know who fixed it.

I will def have to check on that. I've so far had the A/C on along with the recirculating air activated. Sorry to hear that they couldn't fix your issue. They should NOT be disconnecting the recirculating air though! Have you tried a different dealership?

no need to, mine has been in 3 times at Rick Case and they too are not able to fix it. There is NO fix yet. The only fix as of now is what they did to me, and that is make it so the flap does not close.

you guys are right, if I turn my A/C all the way off and have the re-circ button pressed, NO air should come through but it does.

Interesting - I have the same problem, and the dealer replaced the sunroof seal which did not fix it.

If I go 80 the whistling starts, and continues until I slow down below 68.

It's totally dependent on the on/off position of the recirculate button, so it's clearly a leaky or defective flap.

I'm going to try again (3rd time I think) at the dealer next week.
