For those interested in black side steps for the 2007-2008 MDX:

I searched around and was unable to find BLACK side steps for the 2nd gen MDX. The only side steps available are the chrome versions from Acura. Since the Manik steps worked out so well on our 2002 I called up Manik to see what they're plans were. They estimate availability in 2-3 months for the new model, but could get them out sooner depending on demand. So...if you're also interested in some black side steps (or chrome even) please call Mark Francis @ Manik, phone number 626-812-7157 and let him know you're interested. Maybe they can step up production.

Side note, since I'm going for the tactical all black look, anyone have a source for black door handles and black front grill? I'd rather not paint them, since painted chrome just ends up chipping off.

I also like black side steps... and prefer the "blacked out" look. We have an '08 black on black... and was looking for some black steps (wife is near 7months pregnant). We wanted to go oem if possible, but none of them really hit it for us.

We wanted to get tubular (not oval) black steps. Anyway, we couldnt wait anymore, so I ordered a set from EBAY. I wasn't expecting much as far as quality.... and figured, I'll try these for now, and later if we don't like it, there may be more options in the future (like Manik?) Currently the 2 EBAY black tube steps I found were "Black Horse" and "Aries". They are both on the cheaper side of price.. and quality, but as long as it works... plus they looked closest to what we were after.

I've tried Aries tube side steps on a Honda Element I leased, and loved it. The price was low, looked great, and they served well. They aren't aluminum like oem ones, but that was ok.

For the MDX, I thought I'd try other brands, so the "Black Horse" arrived... These were about $50 cheaper than the Aries. Once mounted, they look great. Installation instructions were not so good, but overall, install was quick and easy. I wasn't pleased with the support braces though :p . They look minimal, (even the Aries step for the Element was way beefier)... but so far they are holding up fine, and my wife loves the look and placement of the step... so I guess we'll keep it till it needs replacement.

The step was about $140 + 30 shipping.
I'll try to post a pic soon. I always get home late when it's dark, and taking a pic of it seems kinda futile.

Hey type MDX....

I dont think there is a source yet for non-chrome door handles and grill. Just scuff them down, give it a little grit, and get them painted. It'll look great. I might get around to that as well.

I'll also contact Manik... too. Maybe I can switch to those later... :D

Ahh... ok.

Nice to meet you too~

As for the black side steps... I guess I left something out... I was looking for all black "tube" style steps, not running boards.

I'll post some pics up of our X w/ them on... Looks nice...

JP,

Which tubes did you end up purchasing? Also, did you have to do any drilling to do the install or were they just bolt on?

I have read on differnt threads that steps and running boards require drilling and on other threads they say just bolt on... please let me know, I dare not drill into my car.

Just got an email back from Manik, they say they have not verified anything for the 2008 MDX yet......

Thanks in advance.
