Has anybody in cold weather climates noticed this problem?
First off some background. I have six disc's in the audio head unit. Slot 1 is a DVD-R 4.7gb about 1/2 full of MP3's. Slots 2-6 are loaded with musical CD's (not CD-R(W)'s) but just audio cd's.
When I get in and start up the MDX it will eject any of the cd's and complain it's a "BAD DISC, SEE OWNER'S MANUAL." But it will play the DVD loaded with MP3's just fine. So I keep trying to have it load the cd's. Later after the MDX is warmed up it will play the CD's. And also while driving and listening to a CD it will cut out, no sound and then pick up where it left off. It's acting like it cannot read the disc.
Has anybody noticed the unreliability of the head unit when the MDX is cold (other than the ejection issue already posted about)? Has anybody had their head unit replaced because it couldn't/wouldn't play audio CD's properly? |

I can't say that I've seen any odd behavior with my CD changer, even with the cold weather we've been experiencing in the Northeast (last weekend it was sitting outside in 14 degree weather). I should also point out here that my changer is filled pretty much the same as yours (i.e. one DVD-R and 5 regular audio CDs). I wonder if what you're experiencing is related to the dreaded CD-eject issue? Regardless of what the reason is, clearly something is wrong and needs to be fixed/replaced.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

| I am guessing you have the Tech package because I don't think mine plays DVD-R. That being said, I have it loaded and don't have any of those problems you described. |

I have almost exactly the same problem.
It started a couple of weeks ago when I burned a disc. It played fine the first time I put it in, but then started ejecting saying "Bad Disc, see owner's manual". Since then I have gotten it to play 1/2 a dozen times again.
However, discs I have had in there since I got it also started ejecting as well!!!
I was waiting until I burn my master two discs to see if it kept being a problem. I am consolidating my whole library onto two discs, and was hoping the problem went away before I brought it to the dealer.
I just got my X at the beginning of November so I'm not sure it's a cold weather thing for me. I noted the opposite....that it seems to accept the disc when starting the car for the first time, but then if I switch to another source and then back, boom it spits it out.
I have no audio discs of any kind inserted to check. |
