Hello all,

I am looking for some feedback for those of you that have aftermarket HID lights on your 04-06 MDX.

I specifically am looking for the type of kit you have, and how happy you have been with it. In other words, have you had any problems and would you buy it again?

I am not looking for a discussion of the pros/cons of aftermarket HID lights. I am very familiar with these arguments and see both sides of it.

I am specifically looking at going with the Xenondepot 4300 kit for our 06. I want a quality, non Ebay reputable kit with minimal fuss and problems.

As always, I appreciate everyone's feedback!

***Sorry moderators, I posted this on the wrong thread, can it be moved to general discussion?

Try searching the forum with the brand you want, there are so many pages on this topic...most people won't repond if they have been here a while. Just trying to help. :)

Thanks,

I have truly read until I am cross eyed. I appreciate the feedback. I am just wondering how people like them now that they have had them for a while.

I think long term reliability is going to be one of my biggest concerns.

I know what you mean, I would love to have HID's and I know a few "car" friends that could do this for me, but I am worried about the warranty issue. Right now my MDX seems to be close to having the lemon law enacted. I am tired of taking it in, just happy it is under warranty.

There is an HID forum, can't think of the name, but on another forum I belong to they talk all about it. V6PERFORMANCE.net check there for that web site. It is devoted to HID.

Just my 2 cents. :)

hidplanet.com maybe?

I would highly suggest the xenondepot kit. It has relays/harness and uses the Philips/Hella oem ballasts and Philips capsules in the bulbs. I used Philips/Hella ballasts on my retro and they have been solid for over 3 years.

Of course if you plan on getting rid of the car soon, any of the chinese kits would do.

I do appreciate all of the feedback. I am planning on keeping this car a long time and therefore, quality is important.

I too want to make sure that there are not any type of warranty issues, and I have heard that the cheap kits work fine, but I somehow get concerned about the amount of money this car cos then put in a cheap HID kit.

I really was not a huge fan until I got used to driving with them in our 02 TL and now our Maxima, and I do think that there is a real benefit to having them.

Another suggestion I would make is to either make your own or buy some plastic cases to shield the ballasts from water. I think xenondepot may have these as well.

Xenondepot seems to be a good bet based on past responses here. I have a Polarion set (also uses Philips bulbs and ballasts) that has been problem-free these past couple of years. There have been some problems with the McCulloch (spelling?) kits but there are some members that I guess still have them. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

I have heard good things about Polarion as well as Xenon Depot. Decisions, decisions.

I do agree that you get what you pay for in the case of aftermarket HID lighting based on what I have seen on several boards.

I used to think the XenonDepot kit was the best also, but one of the ballasts on my kit went out after only 2 years. I've tried on multiple occasions to get the guy there to sell me an extra, used, or left over ballast, but he refuses to budge. Instead he offers a new phillips ballast for $125 plus shipping and, in the same breath, always offers an entirely new kit for $195. I've given up and gone back to stock headlights.

I have one installed in my 04 MDX and have been very happy. I have been running one in my NSX for 7 years now with no issues. Both are connected directly to the wire harness. However, both kits did come with wiring and a relay to connect to the battery, but i did not use it.

A business partner of mine has been importing them direct from the manufactuer. I can get you guys kits for $139 shipped (in US) if you are interested. They come with 1 year warranty. Also, since they are located in the US support is much better and any warranty issues are much easier.

Can also get you parts if you need, new ballast/bulbs/etc.

Finally got mine installed this weekend. I was going to hold off on doing it, but decided to go ahead and take the plunge..........

Kit was easy to install, and I am happy with the results.

One taken during the day....

I did have to re-aim the headlights. Install took about an hour and a half, but I was very particular about how the wiring was run and where the ballasts were mounted, etc.

Cool. So where did you end up ordering from?

Picked it up from Xenondepot.
