Can any Canadians chime in and let me know what kinds of prices you paid for the MDX (preferably Elite package) recently?
I am especially interested in what those in the prairies are paying because I can travel to buy, but likely will be sticking to the prairies because B.C. and Ontario are just too far for us to drive.
Thanks! |

Hi
Bought the Elite just before New Year. Paid $51,000 which includes the $9,000 cash incentive Acura was offering at the time. |

Thanks, sounds like an awesome price! The deal is only $7000 off now. :( But assuming we got the same deal, that would put us at $53,000 and the guy I talked to in Calgary was not giving us anywhere near that. He was basically down to $55,055. The deals might not be as good here in the prairies though due to us not having many dealers around here (5 total in all of MB, SK, AB).
Should have asked, what did your price include? i.e. did you pay for the block heater on top of that, freight & pdi on top of that? etc. |

Hi again
Freight and PDI was on top of that price. Price I quoted was the MSRP of $62,200 less the Acura discount of $9,000 and the difference is the deal I managed to get at the time of my offer. Hope this helps. Could be with fewer dealers around makes it much more difficult to work a deal. Good luck with your negotiations. |

| Thanks for the info! I guess we're not doing too bad. So far, we've got one dealer offering us $9000 off $62,200 (so the $7000 Acura Canada rebate + $2000). I so wish we would have bought before Jan. 3 when the rebate was still $9000. Unfortunately we didn't start looking until the 5th. :( We're talking to our local dealer tomorrow and hopefully can negotiate better than an additional $2000. |

| dory - picked up Base 08 in Nov with $3350 off MMSP ($52,500 ??) and $7K rebate. We were there close to 3 hours, negotiating. Be firm with the negotiation let them know you are serious and can take the business else where - that if there is another dealer "close by". |

I leased an 08 Elite in Sask in November:
0 down
$740 per month taxes in
1.9% lease
$58,500 cap cost
48 month lease
Best deal I could get in Sask, |

We're definitely willing to travel to any of the 5 dealers in the prairies, so we can take our business elsewhere...and will if necessary. Our last 2 vehicles were bought out of province because the people here refused to deal AT ALL.
Thank for the info on your pricing, what province did you buy in? |

I am totally out of the loop on leasing, can you explain what the "cap cost" is? Was this in Saskatoon or Regina? |

In Saskatoon
Cap cost is the capitalized cost of the lease payments including term, interest and payments. Acura Canada was and still is giving either leasing rate incentives and or reductions of up to 9k in the price of the vehicle if purchased (no Acura financing incentive could be used).
I negotiated cap cost down to that amount and said I wanted to lease at 1.9%. Deal done.

Thanks for the explanation, much appreciated.
I was told that the Acura Canada incentives are $5000 for base, $6000 for Tech and $7000 for Elite. This is as of Jan. 3 I believe. I had Saskatoon, Regina, 2 Calgary dealers, and 2 Edmonton dealers tell me this. If it's still $9000, you don't know how happy that would make me....but sadly I think it is not. :( |

| No, I believe that they reduced the incentive to 7k as of Jan, Your best bet is to negotiate it down another 2k if that is a game breaker for you. Be tough on them, make it clear that you can live without the MDX (even if you cannot :)) |

dory - We are in Ontario. Contacted 4 dealers - Hamilton/Burlington/St. Catherine/Toronto. Used their "offers" to fight among themsleves. My wife hated the tactics because she was the one who stayed home and talked to the dealers.
Just a suggestion - try not buy any accessories from dealers here in Canada. Buy from Acuraworld in Rochester. Somehow prices here for some items are double. |

Thanks for the tip. I wonder if it's still worth it after brokerage/duty? and how about for large items? We were thinking of doing the towing package and the sport running boards through the dealer, then we could order other accessories at the place you mentioned. |

dory - According to another Canadian with X (theOldman) from Montreal he bought a few things and had them shipped to Montreal. If I remember correctly, he was still 40% cheaper after custom/shipping/GST, etc.
As for me, I am thinking of just make an appointment with Acuraworld, send him a list of accessories that I want, drove down to Rochester for the day and drove back with the accessories installed. I am from Hamilton, so it is not that far. Either that I will have them sent to Chicago, I have a buddy there who comes to visit me a few times a year. He drives a Honda Ody with 2 kids....so that should be a problem crossing the border with bulky stuff. |
