First service done at 4k miles by the stealer. I was charged 44.99 for oil change and multi-point check. Stealer tried to convince me to do the tire rotation and wheel balance for another 50 bucks, i was like whatttttttttttttttttttt. Save it and rather do it myself or elsewhere. Again, for those of u who plan to have your service done by Paragonacura, go look for another dealer. I also asked for a loaner and was told that they don't have a loaner until the end of Feb. They just plain sucks.............................

Those cheap bastards! They have ton of loaners, just depends on your type of service. I was at the stealer few months back & fired them for wanting to charge me $129 for oil & tires rotation (possibly a fluid diff change too). Then I asked them how much for oil, they said $40. I asked if I can get a loaner & they've mentioned, "Typical oil change services would not quality for a loaner, unless I choose the $129 service otherwise take the shuttle to go home."

I told them to go to hell. I will do the service myself. :28:

Last time I was at my stealership the service manager said to me what did we do before the internet? I said you FOOKED eveyone, but not anymore !
What an idiot. He was fired not too long after as I knew his lame days were soon OVA ! His attitude SUCKED big time.......Probably working at a Cadillac stealership because that is where he belongs.....

Paragon actually had the color I wanted in the X when I was looking to purchase. They had called to try to match the price I was quoted at Rallye and gave me the good old "Come on down and lets chat" No thanks! I've also had several people tell me they quote you competitive prices but gouge you at the end when you come to pick up the car. If you go on the BBB website you see a lot of complaints about Paragon. I have yet to service my X at Rallye but regardless I will post my experience here for fellow New Yorkers.

LS, U made me recall wut the sales guy said when i am making the purchase. He was like if u need service and u wanna just drop the car off for that we are more than happy to provide u a loaner for your convinience. All Bulllllllllllll****tttttttttttttttttt. Money for loaner, that's wut they want.

That's right! They want more & more $$$ from you & will go to the extend of lie, cheat, deceive, & more more lies to get you buy their car. After that ... well you know it by now.

I've said it many times and will say it again: In my mind, Service Manger, Technicians, Sales Reps,... are a bunch of retards for thinking that we are nothing but idiots.

Actually, there ARE a lot of idiot buyers out there which is why they keep that mentality when a buyer first walks in.. a lot of people don't take the time to educate themselves like reading blogs/books etc. and the Service Manger, Technicians, Sales Reps etc will take advantage of those people quite easily. It is a business to make money and they are good at it... hopefully more people educate themselves so even though they assume you're an idiot when you first walk in they quickly realize you got a size 30 ½" shoe (that extra half inch makes a difference :p ..hehe) that you can use swiftly and efficiently when the need/bu** sh** arises :p

I agree with everything being said here. Like most folks, I could easily afford to pay ridiculous prices for service, but why would I? It's like paying someone $.10 per gallon to pump your gas. Stealerships exist for the uneducated, handicapped, or extremely busy individuals.

I perform all scheduled maintenance on my vehicles. And when I'm done, I know the job was performed to my satisfaction.

How long does it take for the dealer to do an oil change? Most dealers now have an "express lane" for oil changes, where they can get you in and out in under 30 minutes. Please don't think I'm a big defender of dealers, but it doesn't seem to make any kind of economic sense to hand out an daily loaner for a job that takes 15-30 minutes.

Who could afford to stay in business with those practices? Seems like we have a system where both sides (dealer and customer) are constantly trying their best to 'game' the system.

Honestly, if you were running the dealership, what would your loaner policy be?

Same here. I guess we can form a Service-It-Yourself club. :D

Another positive, I put Mobil-1 rather generic at the stealers. :7:

I agree with you, but they should be up front about that. My dealer just says they are out of loaners.

u got a point there but here is my situation. Saturday is the only day i have time to bring my car in for service. There's no such thing as 15-30 mins wait for oil change when u live in nyc. The service department open at 8, I got there at exactly 8 o'clock. I asked the service adviser how long he think i can get the car back. He told me that i have to come back at least 2 hours later for the car because i have about 15 ppl ahead of me. I asked for a loaner over the phone because i knew this is going to happen. Since they have tons of loaner, why not just give me one on friday when i drop off the car after work and save the time waiting on saturday. It's customer service we are talking about over here. Don't forget that we are paying 40k+ for an acura, not a honda. Don't we deserve to be treated a little better? Again, all they want is your signature on the contrac when making the purchase. Whatever good service they will provide afterward is all BS.

15-30 mins oil change? Are we living in a dream world?

.... It's only possible if you are the only ONE in the service dealer in a whole day & all technicians never chit chats to each other. Back in reality, the most you get is a coffee & a donut in exchange for at least 2hours of waiting for an overpriced & under quality service.

This is exactly why I hate going to the dealer unless I really have to. I can do an oil change in 1/2 hour, that includes the clean up afterwards. So I just do it myself. I also get to pic the time to do it, I'm not stuck with the dealers schedule. As a bonus, I also save a few bucks.

I can change my own oil in 20 min or less and have a nice cold CHELADA while I'm at it with some tunes of my choice playing in my garage......:1: :1: :1:

20 mins or less. I doubt that and I'll tell you why.
I've been changing oil for close to about 20 yrs blah blah.... but this MDX takes a little longer than any other car. Not too much space down there, manuever capability is limited, tends to splashing all over if you don't do it right.... to name a few. My fastest was 35 mins. With rushing at most 30mins including clean up after. Mind you, I'm all with speed at most of what I do. :D

but having a chelada during the process makes it seem 20 "speedy" min or less.....

My brother owns a repair shop. That is where I do most of the work on my cars. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but have been doing it all my life. The prices you got from the 'stealer' for an oil change and the tire rotation and balance are very fair. If you are a DIY, you can do it cheaper but it is you who are doing it, and cleaning it up when done.

Lionspeed, I was refering to "First service done at 4k miles by the stealer. I was charged 44.99 for oil change and multi-point check. Stealer tried to convince me to do the tire rotation and wheel balance for another 50 bucks, i was like whatttttttttttttttttttt."

The prices quoted in the original post were fair. Anthing more is questionable.:)

Are we still in the FIRST SERVICE DONE BY THE STEALER thread?
$280 is what the stealer wanted to charge me for the FIRST SERVICE that is. I was in a worse mood than you. I fired them. :1:

LionSpeed, while I do these things myself, the dealer that I purchased my X from charges $39.95 for an oil change. The 'B' service at 7,500 miles is $194. For this you get oil change, tire rotation and balance, replace diff. fluid, and all those "inspects" that need to be done for folks who do not know anything about cars (there are quite a few of those folks). While there are many dealers and service stations out there that will always try to pull the wool over your eyes, there still are enough legit places that try to do the right thing; you just have to find them.:)

Found one, a pretty decent place with remarkable service for about 20 years. Everything was done right & clean for just a little over $40. Always friendly & even offer free chelada while you wait. The LionSpeed Auto Shop DIY. :D

LionSpeed, I know what you're talkin about! Stay with 'em.
