bolt on turbo for MDX - Click HERE for Original Thread

Okay, so I dropped the X off for service and the dealer gave me an RDX as a loaner for the day. I must say that this little suv is pretty fun to drive specially when the turbo kicks in.

It's kind of a weird feeling when the turbo kicks in but it's very exhilirating. Also, it seems to have more pep than the MDX. So I had to check out the specs and was shocked that it's only rated at 240 HP and, 240 Ilb torque.

Now, my question is, is there a manufacturer out there that has plans on manufacturing a bolt on turbo charger for the MDX? If so, can someone give me their info? I would really love to dump a turbo charger on this bad boy.

Also, how good is our transmission? Is it rock solid enough to drop in additional power (turbo or supercharger) or is it already near it's limits?

That's the $68 million dollar question........$68 million I'm referring to the amount of Honda Motor companies transmission recall a few years ago. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole! No one makes a turbo for the MDX either......:1: :1:

You can check with www.comptechusa.com

You can probably get someone to custom make a kit for it. But that will cost alot of money, not to mention all the supporting modifications for the turbo. Will it all fit under the hood? Then with more power, you would need upgraded brakes to stop it. And yea, the transmission will need to be beefed up.

Theres a 500lb+ weight difference between the MDX and RDX. More boost = more power = more fuel.

If u like the RDX, get one. Its better having something backed by the factory than to start off from scratch.

THe way the exhaust is plumbed in this car I dont' think there's any way you could ever make a turbo (or turbos) fit.

Supercharger, maybe. :D Even that's doubtful, though. There's a lot of stuff in the Vee of the engine

Agreed, since there are no headers on the car, it would be pretty hard to get a turbo in. Honda has fixed their transmissions for the most part. There are a bunch of TL and TSX guys that are running chargers. As well, there are a few people with accords that are running S/C or Turbo. The problem will be with the tuning. The ECU cannot be tuned easily, and the comptech tune won't be good as it is rated only for the 3.2 Litre J32 in the TL.

No problem, you just need this Electric Supercharger. One size fits all. :D
