Can someone run a carfax report for me. I bought a CPO 2007 MDX and need to verify that no other individual has owned the vehicle inorder to qualify for Geico Mechanical Breakdown Insurance.
Thank You |

| If its CPO, they are suppose to give u a Carfax report. What does the mechanical breakdown insurance cover? |

Unfortunately they did not give me the report. The MBI covers basically everything except wear and tear items. But you have to be the first individual owner of the car. |

| Ok, I just looked it up on Geico's website. Is it worth it, when there is a factory warranty in place? I never heard of this before, so I am trying to understand the value. |

| Wouldn't Gecko do this as part of their verification process? I mean anybody could come up with a fake or altered carfax report. |

You would think they would but they told me to check to make sure I qualify. I am sure they have no problem taking the money for 6 years and then when I need it to say I never qualified. |

For me to add it, it costs $44 every 6 months so figure 7 year policy if you dont get to 100k miles would be $616. You do have a $250 deductible each time compared to the zero or $100 offered by acura's warranty. For me since I bought a car with more than 6k miles on it I never was able to qualify for the normal acura new car warranties, and the dealer refused to sell the wrap warranty.
With Geico you have to start the policy within 15 months or 15k miles. So for someone like me who maybe drives 10-15k miles a year I can still wait another maybe 6 months before I start it and then I have 7 years from the date my policy starts or 100k miles.
So if I bought my car in september, and bought it with 9k miles I would probably have to start it before it gets to 15k miles so lets say in 6 months from now. So that is about 10 months from when I bought it therefore my factory warranty has about 3 years 2 months left on it. While my geico warranty has 7 years left.
Hopefully that makes sense. I am not sure if anyone has used it and could comment on how easy it is to use, but at least you dont have to worry about Geico going out of business like some of these third party warranty companies. |
