Nope, it's not just you. It would seem that we've reached a critical mass of enthusiasm 'round these parts, and are now destined to sink into a sporadic litany of complaint posts ("I hate my dealer/my X sux") and "mod" posts from newbies ("hey, anyone know if someone makes a turbo/supercharger for the X?"). Of course, Fab and LionSpeed are always good for a wildly off-topic trip to Chelada-ville ;), but seriously, if you take a look at pretty much any other automotive forum, they tend to become a bit moribund after the initial "whoo-hoo-I-got-mine!" phase has past.
So, until the rumored diesel shows up, or the 3rd generation makes its debut, best to get used to the silence.
Regards,
Adam
PS - I've been thinking of posting a "hey, my X tracks straight, has no creaks or rattles, handles like a sports car, and generally kicks arse" post, but I don't really see the point. |
|

| kingmdx |
| I got to agree but then other than complaints there isn't much to talk about ...no one is really using a ton of mods besides factory stuff (and lights/bulbs..can't forget lights :p)... and there are no new parts that are causing a buzz... so I guess it will be a quiet run for a bit :p it will pick up eventually..hopefully :) |

| Same thing happened with the first gen a few years ago. Daniel tried a few things to liven things up (the points and shopping come to mind). We usually get new members that will energize the place. I still get plenty of info/entertainment from this place. |

| Yup, there isnt much to talk about, other than normal everyday issues. Even if we were to have MDX meets, it probably wouldnt be exciting. "Oh hey, you got the same side steps as me."  |

| I was thinking the same thing the other day. The only complaint I could come up with the other day was that the webmaster STILL hasn't included the 2008 model to the forum board. How hard can it be to put " 2007 - 2008" on the forum area! I guess that can only mean that the MDX is a good vehicle other wise there would be tons of complaints. |
|
|
| LionSpeed |
| This is why I've been longing for the arrival of 3rd gen X if we can still be survived by then. Perhaps we should come up with a thread wish list for 3rd gen X, a comprehensive list. |

Maybe we'll get lucky, someone will wreck their X in some freak accident and post a story and pictures for us to enjoy. I'm imagining something along the lines of...
"I was driving my X the other day at about 80mph through four feet of snow when this Lexus RX lost control and T-boned us (driven by a woman of course, since the Lexus is more of a "chick" car). The SH-AWD allowed me to pull to a perfectly controlled stop along the curb. I quickly checked my gas mileage and realized I had been getting 23.3 avg mpg prior to the accident.
Luckily, the side curtain airbags protected me, my wife, my two infants and a carton of eggs we had in the back. However, all five passengers in the Lexus were killed. It's fortunate the Lexus doesn't have the seven person seating capacity of the MDX or there may have been more casualties.
Anyhow, I drove the X to the dealer yesterday for a quote on the repairs. It's going to cost me $250 to have the scratch in the door repaired and another $850 for an oil change. Do you think this is reasonable or should I try to fix the scratch myself with Zaino?
Also, can anyone confirm whether eating too much cajun gumbo causes excessive gas?" |

Well, I'll chime in. We have a 2007 MDX, Black. Previously had a TL. Other car is my 3rd Subaru, a 2005 GT wagon (first year with turbo.)
The all wheel drive is GREAT! I love the MDX's handling for a SUV.
We are thinking of putting on some black and chrome 20" wheels to match the chrome side-steps, and will be tinting the front windows, and trying to find out the best way to get DVD in back. Too little room/support for overhead.
Also, I'd be interested in changing the grill, Chrome/black instead of corregated plastic blades. I saw a link to hondaacuraworld, but pix are not up yet...
Cheers Y'all. J |

I frequent a Porsche forum (for help with our other car) and have, on a few occasions, done exactly that: "hey, I have no oil leak, my top doesn't rattle, & my car's never been in the shop other than for service in its 75,000 miles ....".
When I did, the post didn't make a ripple, and the forum went right back to "these cars should be better .... what's the matter with that company".

Part of my research before buying a car/Suv is checking out the owner forums. If there lots of issues, you see it in the amount of discussion.
This forum really did not show much negative activity at all. My ownership experience has shown that this is one reliable car. People go looking for advice when they have problems. No problems, less activity. This is a good thing. I love my MDX, just wish it had keyless entry. This is one feature I really miss coming from an Infiniti. |

The Murano also remains on the list. Like most vehicles it has an either love it or hate it look, but also has some very nice features (IPod connection that actually works and lets you control the music, keyless entry, etc.). We really do not need a seven passenger vehicle so the smaller size also works. Have never actually driven a CVT so that remains the great unknown. |

Well, I can now discuss MDX handling in snow... got about 2-3 inches overnight here in central ohio. I was pleasantly surprised at the MDX handling. I was even more impressed by the comfort and sound system as I creeped along 670W at 2.33mph (that's a rough estimate)
My wipers iced up though...need heated wipers on the '10 MDX |

Yeah, the Murano is the best crossover out there. MDX sux, don't get it. Beside Nissan is a way better brand than Acura. Go go Murano. ;)
Murano vs MDX? MDX is a clear loser! |

One thing I do know about CVT is reduced towing capacity...some suggest not towing at all with CVT. Maybe the jury is still out on this...haven't looked into for a little while. |

I think when the Murano came out it was unique, but with some of the new crossovers out now, it seems a bit bland.
:2: Apparently you were right Fab about the national distribution of Chelada. I have been enjoying it on and off since sometime around Christmas. It actually isn't too bad. However, I did make some modifications to your formula for my own evil purposes.
Chelada
Lime
Salt (optional)
Tobasco (optional)
I believe that was your basic formula. To this I added the following:
Vodka - amount is at your own discretion
Salt - I don't use
Habanero Tobasco, just a splash or two.
A few Spanish Olives on a toothpick or whatever.
Black pepper
I guess you could consider it a modified Chelada/Bloody Mary. Either way it is pretty efficient at getting the job done.
I will say, that whether adding extras or not, the Chelada taste is somewhat acquired. If you like Bloody Mary's or that type of taste, you will probably like the Chelada.
Plus it's just damn fun to say, especially after they start working. Repeat after me…Ch'lada baby, Ch'lada.

I sing "CheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeLa da" ummmmmmm umumummmmm Chelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaada.......
Yes I too love Tomato, Lemon, Lime, Salt kinda combo's esp a ZING ZANG BLOODY !
Have you tried ZING ZANG YET? Have you marinated some chicken in Zing Zang over night and grill or bake the next day ? If not your missing out........
My father makes a killer Tomato Aspec which is also an excellent healthy salad with V-8 Juice, veggies (carrots, radish, artichoke hearts, chinese vegetables, celery), fresh squeezed lemon juice, black pepper/cayanne pepper, salt. Could eat that every day! :1: :1: :1:
So who else admits to trying Chelada's ????? |

I think it's too cold back EAST for those folks to drink chelada during this time of year. They probably stay in door most of the time & enjoying cup of hot tea/chocolate.
I always enjoy a nice cold drink weather it's a marg, beer, bloody mary.... in this kind of weather 70-80 hell yeah I'll drink anything. :D
P.S. Chelada, Modified version fr LS
1. Freeze Chelada right before the freezing point
2. Half a teaspoon of salt.
3. Squeeze half a small lime.
4. Cut into thin slices fr the other half of lime.
5. Pour everything into a cold cold glass (no ice). Yes I love slices of lime with chelada.
6. a teaspoon of tabasco (optional)
... Life is good. ;) |
