For those who own the 2nd Gen of the MDX, if you had the opportunity to purchase a new vehicle today would you buy another MDX?
If not, why.

Thanks

I just came from a 2002 MDX w/navigation to 2008 MDX Tech/Ent....
and just love the new one.
I have been an Acura owner since 1986. I have owned 2 legends, 1 RL, and now on my second MDX.....and I am not even employed by Acura/Honda or have stock in the company!! I just love the car and the personal support.......Why would I need to change?

Just My Two Cents!!!
s2k000L
Absolutely!

I too am a loyal Honda fanatic--4 Civics, 1 Accord, 1 Legend, 1 Odyssey, 1 S2000 and now 4 MDX's. Every time I am in the market for a new vehicle (which is every year), I try and go with an open mind and check out the competition, both foreign and domestic. I seem to always gravitate back home...Honda that is!

When people ask me on the street 'How do you like your ride?', i always respond with 'THIS MDX is by far my favorite since its entrance into this market. This truly will kill a BMW X5 3.0 on the road and save some money in your wallet.'

+2!! I wish I could trade in the 03 for another 08!

Hell yes, no question about it.

No question, I would buy another one. I still believe it is the best combination of performance, luxury, space and reliability. When the Diesel MDX comes out, this is one is going to be traded in for the oil burner.
MDXlover
Yes, I will definitely will get another one. Look around. This is the best combo for the buck. Tech-savvy innovation, decent 300hp on a V6, sexy stream-line body, elegant and yet practicle, easy to use interior and electronic design and with a entry-level luxury SUV price tag.

Here are my vehicle history:

1994 HONDA Accord - reliable and good quality car for college. The only car I've ever owned with zero quality issue.
1997 first generation ML320 - wierd engine stalling issue. Brand new car but died on the road twice for the same problem. And don't get me started with other quality issues.
2002 X5 3.0 - Brand new with unknown cause of check-engine light issue. The engine goes into "safe-mode" and can only shift to no more than 3rd gear. I end up knowing EVERYBODY in the service department on first-name basis. The X5 had permanently scarred me because I loved that car very much. After this, I said to myself that I will never buy any BMW.
2007 MDX - So far the only issue iwith no permanent fix from Acure yet is the front suspension clicking noise.

I've test driven many cars in this segment. RX350 are very nicely built cars but their styling is just not for me. Infinity FX got some muscle and style but the interior is awkwardly designed and poor visibility. My parents have a 07 XC90. Safest car in the world. Drive like a moving vault but its look and design are just not my taste. However, the only thing that I wish to have is the blind spot system. There is a infrared emitter under both side mirrors. And whenever a car is in the blind spot, a warning light will light up at the interior of the mirror. The only thing that makes a strong competitor for MDX is Audi Q7. I did not test drive it yet but have seen many good reviews.

As of today yes I would rebuy the MDX... there isn't anything better for the price IMO...yet. I'm not a honda fan :p ..first honda ever but liking it so far... still I like some stuff in infiniti better ...but hey overall package the MDX is a winner :)

Same here. On my second MDX - still have the 01. Not really a Honda fan either but have had good experiences so far with my 95 Ody, 02 RL, and 07 Ody, and especially the 07 X. I just like the complete package, ergonomics, solid engines and exterior design offered by Honda.

Can't wait for the next MDX...

Yes, I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Yes I would buy the 3rd gen MDX in 2011 in half a heart beat. :D

I would also definitely buy it again. This is my first Honda/Acura vehicle and so far I am very pleased. I know a lot of people complain about Acura cutting corners on certain aspects of the vehicle but it never really bothered me much since compared to BMW, Mercedes, Audi and even Lexus with their exorbitant options I find the MDX to be an excellent value. Also after having the X for a few months I am getting used to the engine and that VTEC roar is just amazing, it brings a smile to my face every time.

This is my first Honda/Acura product and I am a big fan.

If I were to replace the MDX, I would do it with another MDX. When I replace my wife's car, it will probably be with a Honda or Acura.

If Acura made a version of the Ridgeline, I would probably get that.

Yes, this is my third MDX. Currently own a RL and an RDX.
Husker4theSpurs
No, I wouldn't ...

Let me say though that I've really enjoyed the MDX overall and the tech features are better than any other car I've owned. I really can't say a whole lot bad about the MDX.

The main reason I say I wouldn't is b/c I wish I would've just held on to my old car a while longer rather than trading in an '05 for an '07. Stupid financial move always.

Again, I have enjoyed the MDX, but it just doesn't give me the "wow" factor of some of my other cars. Again, I have no real reason for feeling this way.

Another factor ... I think my conscious wishes I'd bought something a little more economical fuel wise. I probably would've bought a Lexus RX 400h if it had an mp3 input and better Nav.
Needsdecaf
Depends on the pricing vs. a CX-9 Grand Touring. If I could find a good deal or a reasonably priced CPO, yes. If Mazda were having a fire sale, I'd head there.

I would agree with you, but I don't really care about that part of it ... I would like better fuel economy.

I have 2 1st generation X's which I like. That said, I will be going back to a car. I really like the TSX or TL, but may go back to an Accord. We shall see.

The new TL is full of promising. I have my eyes on it. Accord is ok inside but so ugly from the outside.

I agree with regards to the sedan, (rear end), but the coupe is smoking good looking. I think the sedan is beginning to grow on me.

Definitely maybe. There are small things I don't like about it, but overall it was the best features to dollars for what we wanted. I would definitely get a different color interior and likely a different dealer.
rsgacura
Yes, I would do it again. If I get one now, it would be even cheaper compared to what I paid in 2006 end in December! I could have gotten even RES on it. That's the only thought I have!!! Love it!

Wait for the nu TL.....pass on the Ridgeline looking accord....:o :o :o :o And don't forget the ALL NEW 2010 RL forthcoming.....drool......:4: :4:
TulsaMDX
We traded our 01 MDX in on an 03. Traded the 03 on an 07. Just turned 15000 miles and not a single problem. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Great SUV!

Unfortunately, the new RL looks like not much more than a new accord with a strange version of the MDX's grille on it.

the front ... is not eye catchy but it's not terrible. There is no shot for the rear/interior so I can't conclude. :8:

Someone at Acura Design department is smoking crack! SOS ! And your correct it looks like that ugly Accord more so than before!
Let's hope they don't Fook up the TL....

If Acura holds the line on RL pricing, I will never buy one. It is priced out of my range. I never thought of the Accord looking like the Ridgeline, but the front does. I did not like it when I first saw it, but it is growing on me.

That sounds good. In fact the present TL-s looks real good, and I would consider one if I was looking for a vehicle. That said, every TL I have seen, the metal trim at the door to the dash does not line up. It would drive me crazy, as did my 02 TL.
