| vietdude, I forgot to mention this. On the replacement bulbs, each bulb cover clearly labels 4300k on them (see pic above). Now if they stick 4500k or something higher in that bulb cover that labels 4300k is an entirely new thread for us. :2: |

| The thing is they didn't have any markings other then H11 on them  |

I don't know, but I can be wrong, I noticed that Trigger, Vietdude, and LionSpeed order these HID kit on Ebay.. There is also a parent site, I'm guess it's their US site???
Is it safe to order these HID kit from here as well - same brand and everything?
http://www.kusoz.com/
Has anyone ordered from here? |
|
|
| vietdude |
I think they are the same because when I e-mailed them they replied with the kusoz e-mail address. But I would wait because you might not get matching hids from these people.
Unless your LS of course:2: |

Trigger has a different HID set. Subaru's is a set has yet to be ordered by him.
Don't see any reason you shouldn't order from KUSOZ. The real question is how much can you save? |

ok good news, the guy said he will send me replacement bulbs when he gets them back in stock and that he will let me keep the old ones.
He's definitely a stand up guy, so i wouldn't hesitate to order from him.

Hmm, I see it as a negative. He ran out of stock so he dumped bad bulbs in the KIT for you & hope you will never know difference? By saying you can keep the old bulbs mean 2 things:
1. Those bad bulbs worth NOTHING.
2. You caught him RED HANDED for selling you wrong/faulty merchandise intentionally.
:28:
If this happens to me, I would stay away from them PERIOD. |
|
|
| vietdude |
Actually I showed him this thread so that he can see the difference and he let me keep the bulbs for helping him promote his product. He said he didn'y expect to sell alot of H11 recently so he was out of stock.
So long as I get my replacement i'm happy. |

So the extra set of bulbs I ordered from a different e-bay seller "Sharperdeal" arrived today. 4300K H11's
I figured I got the same "raw" deal as vietdude, guy ships something orher than 4300K cause he was out of stock so I tried these...even went so far as to tell them 4300K no exceptions.
Well the new bulbs are slightly brighter and when they first fire up are yellow-ish like the stock but after a few seconds they start to shift blue on the outter edges. I'd say a little better but not a perfect match. |

| It looks like a match here but the pics are deceiving. |

Fog lights still beautiful. Total running hours is close to 100hrs & still no sign of any defects. Color are still the same (see pic). Subaru set is a keeper. ;) |

Not once.
Sounds like you have a loose connection.
1. Did you push the "pins" ALL the way in? I do mean ALL THE WAY IN.
2. Did you use electrical tape & secure the "pins" afterward? |

Pins pushed in all the way and secured with electrical tape. Nothing loose. It doesn't happen often but at times one or the other goes out and has to be "restarted".
Strange. |

Nal, how is the color of your subaru kit? Is it a match to the stock HID same as LS?
LS, do you have a link to the e-bay seller who you got the extra 4300K bulbs from? |
|
|
| NAL |
They look whiter than the stock HID's. The box said 4300K but maybe I got 6000K. There was no marking on the bulbs. That said, I feel it's close enough. Nice and bright/white. Now if I could just keep them from rarely but randomly going out.

I'm in the process of switching LB & FOG & DRL to 5000K. I really like the light tint of blue the 5000k produces on the other kit that I've installed on my ES350 & ES300.
8000K may seem a bit too dark blue/purple-ish to me. My friend had a 6000K on his & it produces a light tint of cyan which I also dislike. |

I don't use auto on. manual all the way. ;) |

Yeah, you noticed that too?. I've been dealing with these types domestics as well as JDM for many years. If any thing, they're terrible in spelling. Most of my cell phone (motorolla, nokia, samsung, sony) all have some sort of misspelled words in their menu/os one way or another. A step further, they literally translate i.e. word for word from Japanse to English. Good luck understanding that too. Some of the translation was so terrible, I had to just look at the pictures/diagram for instruction.
This HID kit would be my 6th one to install on a car. So far none of them has any defect on both ballasts & bulbs. Knock on PLOOD. Plood = an act of taking a dump in the water. :D |

btw Lion,
I have a tech question since we're on the light subject.
sorry this too is non acura related but I know of no one better to ask.
since I have 100 sets of bulbs now in my garage, I figured I would throw a set of the MTECs into my wifes lexus. she has those ugly DRL's in her RX. I noticed in the manual etc it reads 55w and all the MTEC I have are 65W. Is that ok? Is it ok to put 65W bulbs into a 55W socket?
BTW, after switching back and forth like 5 times, I'm actually running the JDM 2500 yellows in the 335.
another funny story, I bought a set of MTECs for the DRL's and I can't get to them lmao..... thank goodness there is a switch to turn them off ..... |

Heat00. How ya doing? yeah, things have changed quite a bit after you left. How? For starter, this thread is not the original Fog Upgrade from MDXlover. This thread is REAL HID upgrade originated from Trigger. LOL. You don't remember this, do you?
Me? same old. My X? well, it no longer has the plastic bumper inserts. It is now equiped with Subaru Fog HID & hi-beam HID 4300K.
To your question. Jumping from 55w to 65w isn't an issue. You might not get the same brightness if that's is your concern. As far sockets, they're few that interchangable. Last month, I've installed my wife's lexus ES300 & my brother GS330 HID low beam & Fog at 5000K. They look *****ing. The truth?, I would never go back to halogen anymore.
Here is the shot of painted bumper inserts link.

Here is the shot of low beam & HID fog. |

sweeeeet...
your X looks great!!
so your fogs are now true HID??
nice.....
as far as the concern on putting the 65w's in my wife's truck, don't care about brightness as they are just DRL's but look terrible with oem halogens, just don't want to burn the thing down with hot wires or anything lol...
I do miss driving my X sometimes... I miss all the interior space and comfort!! |

| XenonDepot |
Hello All,
I just wanted to clarify to you that XenonDepot.com is in no way affiliated with Kusoz HID conversion kit. I know that they have XenonDepot written on their website and ebay pages however this is a complete different company. Our products are in no way shape or form similar to their products as contrary to what their website says they use Chinese made bulbs and Chinese made ballasts. They would not be able to sell their HID Kits on Ebay for $135 if they were using genuine Japanese components.
BUYER BEWARE!

Thought I'd post and update...DO NOT buy the Helligkeit kit, drivers side fog failed today, it's not the bulb tried 2 bulbs, It seems the ballist is not working. Had to put the MTEC bulb back in for now.
Doubt I'll even bother contacting the seller as I'd have to pay return shipping. Looks like it's time to order the Subaru kit. |

Stay away from McCulluch (sp?) brand HID sets too. I installed 2 sets (driving light + fog) in my dad's '04 LX470, and after 3 months, 1 driving light and 1 fog went bad. This set also had no relays.
I replaced the bad HID kits with 2 XenonDepot sets. They are totally different in quality and it is immediately apparent. They also come with relays and must be run to the battery. They are awsome and work great! Highly recommended. I am looking to get some more XenonDepot kits for our other cars too. |

Installed the Subaru kit for my fogs last night, perfect match to the mains as Lionspeeds pics. I'm Happy now.
On a side note I tested the one working Heligate ballast with the daytime running lights as HID and it just flickered with a 9005Bulb. I then tested the subaru ballast with a 9005 bulb run as the DRL and it didn't work either.
Something strange going on, LS have you tried to USE an HID kit for the DRL yet? |

Congrats on your Subaru, I knew you would like it, or rather LOVE it as much as I do. Subaru does take apprx 10secs longer than our stock HID low beam(LB) to warm-up to its true color. After that, both LB & Fog is a perfect match.
As far as DRL, I did try, & got flickering as you did. Something to do with low current as a nature for DRL. We might need some kind of mod for this. What to do with the extra 9005 HID for the time being? I ended up putting in our hi-beam (HB), and let me tell you, the BEST thing ever. When crusing down the canyon or some dark small street (no upcoming traffic of course), I turn on my HID HB & holy smoke, I can see everything & damn far too. ;) |

Question about the Subaru kits...
Does this kit come with a wiring harness with an upgraded fuse and relay so that you do not draw a higher current from the OEM MDX harness than it was designed for ??
If it doesn't what did you guys do to overcome this issue ?
Also ...are the H11 4300k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit anygood from xenondepot.com ?... i know the phillips kits they sell will probably be more reliable but how are the extremes ..anyone know what kinda/brand of ballast they use for those??? |

Subaru does not come with kit to wire into the battery. I don't see it as an issue. |

| Did you use one in your setup trigger ....i am seeing the harness on eby for like $24 shipped for a H11 40A relay and 25A fuse harness...and I am thinking for HID initial start up safety etc. it might make sense... but then again I may be overthinking it  |

Both the helligate kit and the subaru do not use the relay to the battery. It works just fine as far as I'm concerned, the initial current draw when it fires up doesn't dim the interior lights or anything. I guess it's better to have it wired to the battery but it will most certianly increase the PIA factor when it comes to installation.
The xeon depot is pretty pricy compared to the subaru kit and no one here has posted pics to see if they actually match the stock HIDS...my subaru kit matches my stock same as Lionspeed. |
|
|
| kingmdx |
Yeah i could get the xtreme from xenondepot for 225 shipped due to the lexus forum discount but no one has tested it to see if it matches properly... so I picked up the subaru kit yesterday off the site you gave me...and I'll probably get the relay stuff as well because it may be safer and 24 bucks doesn't seem to be a killer for that....BUT much more of a PIA ...but i'm taking down the entire front since i want to get the front garnish and put it in also...if $$ permits :p
Plus the subaru kit shipped with the harness for safety etc is still 50 bucks cheaper than the xtreme kit so that's a big factor to me right now also since you all proved the subaru kit works etc. I can't justify the difference. |

Nice...
I'm still gonna stick with Zenon Depot stuff just because I like the details put in their product. The wiring, the connectors, the relays, etc. I don't know what ballast they use, but it works fine, and my father loves them. There is definitely a difference in quality of the overall kit.
I used 4300k on my father's LX470 (HL and fogs) ... but interestingly, the HL's look a bit different from the fogs. I'm just going to assume it has to do with the projectors and lenses. Overall, they are very white(just what I wanted)... not very bluish.
I'm sure the "subaru" kits work well too... but after my personal experience with cheapy HID kits, I'll pay a bit more for the extra attention to detail in the more expensive kits.
Anyway... good luck, and please post results!! :D |

I ordered the Subaru HID from Kusoz making sure to select the H11 4300K.. I just got them in today and the box says 4500K.. I am curious if I am going to have the same issue that you had with a slight bluish tint.... I havent looked at the bulbs yet to see what they have written on them..
I will probably install these this weekend and see how they look.. Let you know how things turn out.. |

I was back and forth on this ...but in the end i realised the xtreme kit (which is cheaper than the phillips) that xenondepot sells has issues like every other kit ...I read tons of posts on other car sites saying .."buy them" OR "don't by them" etc.
The ballast is not phillips in the xtremes and hence a "cheaper" version. Now if you're getting the phillips kit from them then I think that's a great kit ..unfortunately $400 is not where i want to be. I'll give these "subarus" a chance and see where it goes. If they fail then i'll switch ballast etc. with another brand maybe even phillips ...in the end i'll be at $400 if all else fails ...if they work then i'm $150. Big enough difference for me to take a chance. |

King... sounds like a plan.
I haven't read any bad stuff YET about the xenon depot Xtreme lights, and just from my experience (I've installed HID lighting for several other cars too ... friend's)... the xtremes' had the best overall quality for the price (without going into $$ brand names).
Plus the xenon depot website makes me feel that they know what they're doing, and have support and other HID parts as well.
You're right, these can go bad as well, but so far we love it. I just wish I got them the first round :p oh well.
I still believe you get what you pay for.... especially in the HID market. The McCulloch HID's we had worked ok for about 6 months... and didn't die untill 1 yr. I don't want to deal with stuff like this anymore.
The extremes are going well... it's been almost a yr now. Looks and works like oem... plus I have full confidence in them... and that's worth the extra $$... for me at least.
Anyway, good luck.... and paint your bumpers!! :D haha (I was following your interest in the painted bumpers from the other thread) I just dropped mine off at a shop yesterday :2: ;) |

If i also get a 4500k kit by "mistake" I'm not even gonna hook it up to see how they look ...I'll just return it and get the xtremes 4300k kit ...
JP422 sounds like he's had some good experience with the Xtremes and from posts as I said before there are a lot of yes buy ..and some no don't buy ...so it's kinda scary :p ...and as I said I was going back and forth on them ...they are a bit more expensive for the Xtremes but no one here has tried them on the X and posted pictures ...at least not from what I have read... so i'll give it a try if these end up being the wrong items shipped and post some pics ...
If someone HAS tried these PLEASE post some pics (or tell us) of the 4300k Xtremes on the X so we can see if they match the Lowbeams !! thanks |

Pic. pop the plastic retainers out, the centre of the plastic reatiner comes out leaving the holder behind, pull the holder out aswell. Then you'll find the plastic shroud is flexible and you can pull it out and away so your hand will fit up in there. |
