I saw a few posts on a search here about a rattle in the 07 MDX glovebox area. Needless to say, I have it and it is getting worse. Anyone successfully get this solved?
I can push on the glovebox when I hear it (or pull the latch slightly) and it seems to stop, but the box appears to be tight and not loose when latched normally.
Just wondering if anyone has a definitive answer as to what is causing this.
VERY annoying.

Looks like the dampener assembly on the glovebox. They removed it, closed the box, and drove it for a while with no rattle. They said you can take the part in your hand and shake it and hear the rattle. Put it back in and the noise started.
It seems the spring in mine is slightly too small and rattles around inside when not under tension. They ordered a replacement and said that has taken care of a couple they have seen.
I'll update one I get the part installed (20 minutes according to them). I just have to drive in. |

They replaced it, but I still hear the rattle. It appears it IS the dampener assembly doing it, but when installed and the box closed the part rattles.
I wonder if the box itself is not made properly...slightly out of tolerance?
Anyone else have this solved? |

I may have had the same rattle, they replaced the dampener as you described, it "went away" for a couple of days but has returned. (It's wet here in Oregon and sometimes the road noise masks the rattle) I plan on bringing it up again when they fix my faulty gas release mechanism.
Do you ever get a rattle. out of the passenger seatbelt latch, the part closest to the driver, and only when it is not being used? |

I just want this stupid glovebox rattle to go away!
I'll post here what I find. Please do the same. |

Yup, and since I am alone during the week driving to and from work I have to remember to push it forward after my wife last sat there.
Pushing it forward has been the only solution I have found. |

Pushing it forward is the same solution I have come up with. I wonder if it's worth bringing it up with the dealer.
I thought about buying just the end piece to a seatbelt and snapping it in when the seat is vacant, or trying to use one from the third row seats, which will NEVER be used in my MDX, but then I thought it would just rattle in the glove box when it's not being used, a catch 22. |
