Is there a way to adjust the rear-wiper? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Over time my rear-wiper has started to sag and now it sits touching the metal of the car. It does not rest on the window. It seems like it has just become very loose because I can lift it up, but then it falls right back down. I have never used it, so I cannot imagine what the problem could be.

Any suggestions?

My 04 had this problem as the Carwash dryer system pulled at it. It cost me $200 at Acura to have the spring replaced.

I looked at the link but don't really see how you adjust the rear wiper arm. I took the cap off, tried to tighten the 10mm nut but that didn't do anything. I notice the spring under the arm but don't see what that has to do with the position of the wiper arm being level or not.

Mine was sitting slightly lower than it should. I noticed on many other MDXs that they sometimes get that way. During the winter the ice and snow puts some pressure on it by weighing it down. I never go to an automatic carwash so I haven't made it worse.

The arm now is wiping and hitting below the glass hatch and hitting the metal. Somebody must have pulled on it. I want to adjust it back to the original height for asthetics. Any clearer instructions? Thanks.

You will need to remove that 10mm nut and take the wiper arm off to adjust it. The shaft that the wiper arm is attached to is splined. The wiper arm is also splined. You'll need to remove it, rotate the arm one spline (or one groove) backwards then it will probably sag into the right place.

It is going to be difficult to pull the wiper arm off after you remove the nut. Wiper arm shafts are typically slightly cone shaped so that the wiper arm swedges itself onto the shaft as the nut is tightened. I've actually seen a wiper arm puller tool, but I have successfully removed them many times on other cars by just working them back and forth and up and down until they pop off.
