It has been said that the second most flattering thing one can ask a person is for their advice:D So I am asking for mdx.orgers opinions with respect to side-step and molding color combinations. I have been looking at all the cars on the road and noticing all the seemingly endless possibilites out there (including the many two-tone styles). After much consideration I am considering several possible combinations:
1) Silver side-steps and color co-ordinated moldings. This of course means Stainless Maniks or getting the OEM steps powder-coated as well as buying Sportwings or getting other moldings painted at the dealer.
2) Black steps and black side moldings for a two-tone look.
So what about it Xers, how do you think these would look? |

The SS steps and color co-ordinated moldings are by far more expensive than going with all black.
I am not at all sure how black moldings will look on the car. But we have the Mahogany (thus dark to begin with) and I was really surprised at many two-tone cars are out there. Inded there are quit a few vehicles on the road with moldings that contrast with the basic color. But still I am not sure. But this option is inexpensive and very easy (no painting, etc involved). |

I think either color sidesteps will look good on your Mahogany. Here's a link to Rail's Rig with Acura silver powdercoated on his -- I think the contrast looks great. Obviously the stainless or silver powdercoated is a "bolder" statement.
If it were me, in either case I'd probably go for color-matched bodyside moldings, though -- I don't think the black molding will do much for either contrast or pizzaz. |

| ... that the powder-coated OEMs look great. In fact I prefer them to the Stainless Maniks. Of course that is were price becomes a factor. Powder-coating the OEMs are much more expensive and will take longer. |

True: $300+ more and ~2 weeks longer for the OEMs powdercoated. Tho based on some of those recent Manik delivery delay posts, maybe the additional time isn't the case anymore... |
