I have no idea how much snow came down in Tahoe this last weekend, felt like at least 2 feet in two days...

The MDX performed like a champ. We were staying in a cabin and the road in front of our cabin had not been plowed...no problem with the MDX, making it out the driveway, and up a few unplowed streets with about 18 inches of snow, even up a street with a fair amount of incline.

I had actually been considering trading my 04 in for an 08, also looking at a MB GL450 and Audi Q7, but now am thinking...what for...

I had an 08 MDX loaner for 1 week while my 04 MDX was being repaired. I actually prefer my design. The 08 has that fancy racing tranny and a bunch of new electronic gadgets but it felt too cramed and the space felt a bit too tight.

Nice pic! Are you on OEM tires?

I'm on my original OEM tires, a little over 45,000 miles on them...

Here's what the car looked like in the morning.

The back of the driveway, with a TL and BMW 5-series (both needing chains to get out of the driveway and on, of course).

Jasguild-

When I test drove the 08, I did like the cockpit area, but felt that the car felt underpowered. Despite the extra power, it felt like there was just too much additional weight to move.

Also sat in the third row and felt that shrank way too much.

If I could put the new car smell back in my 04, I'd probably keep it forever:)

I also have a feeling the 1st gen will do a little bit better in the snow than the 3rd gen, partially because the stock wheels are narrower...

Another difference I noticed is that the newer generation does not have vtm lock function. For someone like yourself who is traversing the country, that may be important.

Thats some crazy snow. I also have the OEM tires but never had to attack that much snow.
