| Why don't you replace it with a real one while you're at it? There are several threads in the AV forum on aftermarket audio upgrades. Some members put subwoofers on sale from time to time. Only thing is you may want to replace the Bose head unit and the other speakers once you've gone that route. Good luck. |

You can likely get it repaired. Seems with most Bose speakers the amps go out that power them. Usually easy fix by replacing the capacitors.
I have used this guy to repair the blown bose speakers in my NSX

I know there are other outfits out there as well. |

| Personally, I've always liked Bose's neutral frequency response. Just can't stand systems that have lots of unnatural, out of proportion, bass. When I'm in a car where Bose designed the audio system, I rarely even adjust the bass, midrange and treble settings. So, IMHO get another OEM sub. |

I must be getting old--BOSE and 'neutral frequency response' in the same sentence. I have now seen it all.
No offense RonM, but you wouldn't have to look hard to find more than a few people who prefer to alter the BOSE sound.
Found info from a 1st gen (check out second post): http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...&threadid=18132

That's exactly what I was going to write. "Bose" and "neutral frequency response" don't belong in the same sentence. |

That's really interesting info from the "frequency response test" thread. Being an engineer, I must admit it's hard to argue with numbers. But overall I still tend to enjoy Bose systems in cars. I particularly like the one in my Audi A6. My'05 MDX is new to me so I really haven't had much time to listen carefully but I will admit it's not as nice as the Audi.
It would be interesting to test some other cars. For example, I find most GM cars to sound very muddy. It may be intentional since so many people like lots of bass.
Knowing the old Bose adage about no highs, no low...I knew I was treading on thin ice. :D |

| I thought my subwoofer was blown too, but when I pulled the woofer out I found that the basket/ Frame was bent and was touching the woofer, causing a horrible buzz. Bent the basket back to it's original shape and the sub is as good as new! |
