We have an '06 MDX, now with 34K miles. I am about to order the '08 Navigation DVD. But during a recent long distance trip to FL from NJ, we noticed a peculiarity with the Navigation. We we would set the Navigation, for example, to route us from Point A to Point B, and follow that route without any deviation on our part. But we noticed, several times now, that the Navigation actually changed the routing directions mid-stream, while we were following the original route: IE: The orginal route would outline I-95 to I-295. But then, suddenly, the screen step-by-step directions change, to take I-495. We have scrolled through the routing steps on screen, just to be sure, and we are pretty sure that the Navigation seems not to stick with the orignal route that it routed, at start-up. Has anybody else experienced this? This is not a problem that I have seen, using my portable Magellan Roadmate 750. What is going on? Thanks in advance.

I haven't had that happen, but I have found the system to, on occasion, get lost and give up on rerouting me.

FWIW, If you live in NJ I don't think that a new Navi DVD is going to do much for you. Mine is from 2004 and hasn't goofed me up yet.

Well, we just have the vehicle down in FL. We found a number of inconsistencies in routing, around the Lauderdale, area. Wondering if the update would correct these matters, by now.

As for the auto-rerouting, even though we have not deviated from the original course, it's frustrating. Both of us like the Magellan Roadmate, better. It is definitely an easier interface, more accurate, and it can be used also in 27 countries over in Western Europe-tried mine there, too, and it works very well.

I agree that my aftermarket Garmin works better that the OEM navi in the MDX.

The advantage to the Acura system is that it is built in, so it is therefore more convenient.

If you're in Florida it is probably worth it, up here, not so much. There's so much new construction down there that it makes sense.
