Has anyone had any experience with this unit. I received an ad from buy.com and they have a refurb unit with a 1yr warranty for $179. From the reviews I have read it seems to be fairly well thought of and I am planning a trip this summer from Fl to NY to DC and back and thought maybe a portable might be in order. Thanks in adance for any input.

I have two (2) Garmin Nuvi 200, priced at about $170 see:

and for the 200W at about $205 see:

Here is a link to Garmin web site where you can compare the differences:

The Nuvi 200 is so intuitive that my wife (anti-computer geek) was able to operate it, by herself without an owner's manual. She and I love the 200 especially the very easy touch screen.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff... Looks like the c550 is a bit larger display with speech directions and can handle mp3's but it lacks some international stuff (which i really dont care about) and a jpg viewer. I appreciate your input.

Check Costco.com. Prices are good. you get it and try it out for a while. If you don't like it you can return it to any Costco store. I think there's a discount on until 5 Mar, but you have to check the site. Let us know what you decide...thanx.

Thanks Ray. I need to keep an eye on that site. Excalibur just bought a Magellan 4250 for $249 but it looks like that deal has since gone by the wayside. I went and played with all the GPS units a couple of weeks ago and am not leaning more towards the Magellan. It just seems to be more intuitive/user friendly. It also seems to tolerate fat fingers a bit more than the Garmin. I was especially fond of the 4200 which I have found NIB online for $199 w/free shipping so may be pulling the trigger on that one soon.

Thanks again.

Well I did pull the trigger. Bought a Magellan 4210 at Target this past weekend. Paid $249 for the unit. A little better than the 4200 but without the bells and whistles of the 4250. After using for a few days I am fairly impressed. Still trying to figure some of the logic but all in all I am happy. I read alot of reviews on line regarding both Garmin and Magellan and there seemed to be a mixed bag. POI's seem to be a major issue with alot of folks. This unit comes with 6 million POI's but some are a bit dated. But what I am really planning to use this for I will have a list of my own personal POI's anyway so its not a major issue for me. I will post back once I have had a week or two to play with it to detail some other pro's and con's. Thanks for everyone's input.
