Over the President's day long weekend, I finally mustered up the will to spread some Zaino TLC on my X. Here's what I did, over two days:
1. Wash with Dawn Ultra and dry
2. Wash again with Dawn Ultra and dry (It was full of bug splats after a family road trip to Disneyworld)
3. Clay with Meguiar's California Gold clay bar
4. Wash again with Dawn Ultra and dry off
5. A coat of Zaino AIO and buff it dry
6. A coat of Zaino CS and let dry
7. Another layer of Zaino CS and let dry :D :2:
Results were pure magic! Love the stuff...
A couple of things I did not do and should have : wheel wells, tire dressing - couldn't find consensus on a tire dressing that is moderate bling, relatively long lasting and low sling off. Suggestions for an X-tested tire dressing product are appreciated.
I am not much of a photographer so the pics don't really do it justice, but here are a few anyway... |

That color and shine looks great, I need to get off my butt and detail the MDX.
I like Griot's Garage Long Lasting Tire Dressing, works better than any of the typical stuff I've tired from the local auto parts stores.

Maybe a little off topic, but what the hell. I have not tried Zaino but one question I have: Do I need to dawn and clay every year or do I simply keep applying layers of Zaino to the car every now and then? What do the Zaino-ista do?
Right now I use Klasse and I usually dawn/clay once a year. If I could get away from that, I may switch. Thanks for the feedback. |

Dawn is used to strip old wax so the Zaino sealant can bond better to the finish, so you only need to use it if there is wax on the finish that needs stripping.
There is no set time interval for claying. What you should do is use the baggie test to determine whether there are sufficient embedded contaminants to warrant claying. Get a thin plastic baggie and put your fingers in it and run it over the finish. If the surface feels like there is grit on it, you need to clay. If you're not sure, clay a small sectiion (choose a horizontal surface, like hood/trunk/roof) and compare the feel before and after. |

Thanks for the info jhue. I was interested in that answer as well.
phins2rt, I have the same color car as you. If you think it looks good after the 2 coats of CS on there, you should slap a coat or two of Z-5, or Z-2 on there and take a look at 'er then. I really love that Dark Cherry color when it's clean. Can't wait until the weather clears, so I can keep it clean for longer. |

| Yeah, I have 2 coats of CS as well, & so far they're like a mirror. About to put 3rd coat of CS in the end of March. Love CS so much I've ordered (to date) total of 3 bottles. :29: |

3 bottles !! I thought that stuff was supposed to last for a while. Are you putting that much on at a time?
Your not topping off your Cheladas with that are you? If so, how does it work on teeth...you got a mirror shine on those babies yet?:p |

Yea, I used them like windex. :D Not just use on the MDX, but on the my other 4 cars as well (Lexus ES350, Lexus ES330, Accord V6-EX, Civic EX). Proud to say, they're all Zainofied, CS style that is. ;) |

Can you share your process steps? On my first application I started with a Dawn wash, Clay, Zaino wash, coat of Z-AIO, coat of Z5, finish with Z6. I followed a week later with a 2nd coat of Z-5 and Z-6 finish.
I have now bought a few more products and wonder how best to incorporate them.
I still have Z-AIO, Z5, Z-CS, Z-FX, Z-2 and Z-6.
My Z-AIO with 2 coats of Z-5 is about 3 months old now.
Can fellow Zaino users share their steps?
Thanks |

At this point you can wash it with it with Z-7 if you have it, then follow it with some Z2 or Z5 applications. I always use ZFX in it, but you really only need to if you are doing multiple coats. Then you can use Z6 and finally Z-CS. |

| Is your mercury temp accurate? I assume it is. Did you take the shot just now or 2 days ago? Yes, Zaino can be a pain working below 60 degree. Pain how? you may ask.... I can't wear my shorts while zainofying that's how. :2: |

| I have other temp guages....all read the same....remember I'm 53 miles East of the Coast, so that rotten bone chilling FOG stops right at Mt. Diablo/Concord California. As Spring continues to arrive the FOG becomes thicker more bone chilling and puts those folks in a GLOOM state of mind while we turn hotter than Hawaii! :2:   |
