Hi everyone, I'm new on these boards and have spent the last couple days trying to find some updated information on here. I have an 01 MDX with a factory stereo and bose system, w/o nav. I am looking to install a new HU and was going to order it off Crutchfield. However, on their install remarks it mentions that I will have to fabricate a mounting bracket and/or modify the car to get the aftermarket unit to fit.

Does anyone have any insight on what is involved in this? Or will an aftermarket go in without any problems?

If it is a single din radio, then there is a kit you can buy to make it fit. Crutchfield should actually have the kit and it should be free if you buy a head unit. Now if you are looking at a double din, then its a different story. There is currently no kit to install a double din. It will bolt to the factory brackets but a trim ring has to be made to fill in the gaps.

Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I was wondering. I am looking at just a single din. Thanks.

I've seen a couple of single din on ebay. You might want to check there too.
