Hi all,

I've just installed my HID for the low beam and I haven't had a chance to fine tune the projector but it doesn't look like it has a lot of glare.

I attached the pic before and after I installed the HID so everybody can see. Let me know if I have to adjust my projector at all.

The 1st pic is before I install my HID.

Sorry, I was not able to attached the pic

Kind of hard to tell with the pictures being so big, but it seems like the HID should be pointed higher. You should of took some pics without the flash and at a location where there is no background light. What HID Kit did you get?

Sidenote: You still getting that engine noise?
snake07
Thank you for your response midnightMDX,

The head light light is not that low since my driveway had an incline and that's why you see the cut off line low compare to the garage door.

I might have to aim the projector down a little bit since i park the MDX behind my car (05 camry) about 20' and I can see a glare.

I'll take some more pics without a flash and keep you posted.

The engine noise I mentioned in my earlier post wasn't real and it's just myself haven't got used to driving an SUV with that large engine before since I've had sedan and always 2.2 -2.4 liter.

After driving with some friends with their brand new 4 Runner, I also feel the same noise so I believe there's nothing wrong the my.

Yea, maybe take some pics closer to a wall. Maybe a dark empty parking lot.

Yea, the noise was probably nothing. Just a little paranoia about your new ride.
pdpboss
which brand/how much did you get it for?
4300K?

im also thinking of doing it, how was the installation procedures?

This is the pic I just took and when I get closer I can see it does not have a nice cut off and with 2 squirrel spots above it.

I don't know if I adjust the projector would help eliminating those 2 squirrel spots but I would try when I have a chance to.

I got it from mod express website and it's $115, installation is straight forward, just plug and play.
snake07
it's 4300k

The holes are in the shield so you will never eliminate them. Even the 2nd gen HIDs have these "ufos". I wouldn't doubt if Acura used the same projector for the 1st gen halogen and the 2nd gen HID!
snake07
Thank you for your advice Phin2rt,

So there's no way I can get away with those 2 squarrel spots unless I do a projector retrofit ?

Can I just leave the way it is right now without worried it's going to blind others ?

Thanks,

You could modify the shield but that would be overkill, IMHO. This shouldn't blind oncoming drivers. I wouldn't worry about it.

I found this on the other website
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/s...ht=glare&page=2

where they modify the projector and used JB weld to cover the 2 rectangular holes inside the projector.

I didn't look inside MDX projector to see if it's the same as the other car so we can modify the same.

You could certainly give it a shot. I am sure they are very similar if not identical. Not sure I would want to screw with anything just to get rid of the ufos but that is up to you. Good luck and post pics if you decide to do this.
snake07
I really want to get grid of those 2 squirrel rectangles and have a nice cut off line.

I think you are right, I don't think it's worthy to mess around with the original projector and it's not easy to get into the projector through a small hole and apply JB weld without messing up inside the headlight housing.

The only one thing I might want to do is aim the projector down a little bit and hope it'd help minimize the glare.

I also planning install the fog lam with xenon gas filled bulb (not HID) and somebody in the forum has already tried it, it looks cool to me.

It's the MTEC 4750k, it's sold at http://www.radial415.com/wp/?page_id=7.

Take a look, let me know how you think, phins2rt.

Thanks,

Did you put a relay harness before you install your HID?
SmokinEG6
what kind of HID are you using? what bulb?
snake07
No, I did not use a relay hardness. I had H11 bulbs, 4300k.
SmokinEG6
You might want to put relay on it. Just on the safe side.

I believe the squirrel windows are from the little squares in the lense. If you look closely at the lense right in front of the projector you can see the small square. I have opened up the headlight for my car atleast 4/5 times and have gotten the square to go away if you sand the square down.

I could be wrong but you can try to cover the hole.
X-rated
would you happen to have a picture of the light output on a dark road.
im debating between 4300k and 6000k.
