Have been having a problem with interference with the FM radio reception. It seems that when I have the de-icer (Read window & rear view mirrors) it produces strong static on most frequencies and background static on the remaining frequencies. At its worst, it is so bad that it blocks the signal completely.
I asked the dealer to look at it when I had the M in for the fuel filler door fix on Friday. They checked another one on the showroom floor and had the same problem. They thought it might be a bad ground and cleaned and reset it. While it did improve it to some degree, it was certainly not a complete fix.
They advised that they had no TSB on it and would forward the problem to Honda and see what they could come up with.
Another problem! :3: |

I think I might be having the same issue. Sometimes I would get very spotty FM reception. Like you said, at worst I would get no signal at all. This was in a major metro area so I shouldn't have problems. It was very sporatic and I could not track down what was causing it. But I think you might have hit the problem. From what I remember the last 2 times this problem has happened I have had the rear defrost on. I'm going to test it out myself later today and see if that's the culprit.
Please post what your dealer tells you. I want have mine looked at and would be nice to give them an idea on what to do. |

I complained about bad FM reception when I got mY 07, The dealer immediately went to a connection at the antenna, and plugged it back in more securely. Problem solved.
Warranties are your friend. |

When I first got my car I noticed the same thing and took it to the dealer right away. The dealer went over and checked/tightened all the connections. Didn't have any issues since then until recently. My problem is very sporatic. It's only happened 2 times in the last couple of months that I remember. Most of the time the reception is fine. I read this thread and it got me to thinking that the problem may be associated with the rear defrost button since the last 2 times it happened I remember having the rear defrost on. This may just be coincidence and the connection is just loose again. I definitely will be taking it in again to have it looked at. Just would be nice to have something to tell the dealer since more than likely when I take it in the radio will be working fine and the dealer will think I'm crazy. |

Anybody have anything definitive yet ? Any solutions ?
I seem to have a similar problem. Only on some stations (the 3 NPR stations I have here mostly) I get a lot of static. XM works great, other FM stations are fine but some just don't seem to work at all and its anytime and regardless of what is running. Kinda weird. I tune the same station in my X3 and MDX, sitting side by side - perfect in the X3 and bad in the MDX. Must be antenna or wire.
I will look at wiring and let dealer look at it next time. |

I don't have anything definitive to report yet. I stopped by the dealer last week for an oil change. I was talking with the service guy about my occasional poor radio reception. I asked if they had any other complaints about it. He said they didn't and it wasn't an issue that he knew about. Seemed honest enough so I beleived him. I didn't have time to let the dealership look over the system again. He suggested that if I notice it happen again to let them take a more in depth look at it.
What do you know a couple of days later I got the same problem again. I can rule out the rear defrost as causing the issue. Wasn't using it. Also it was a perfect day out so weather isn't an issue. The issue is so random it really puzzles me.
I'll probably just schedule a dealer visit so they can dig into it some more. |
