I searched through the transmission archives and couldn't find an exact match of symptoms, so this is why I am creating a new thread.
I have an 03 Acura MDX, just rolled over 70,000 miles. When I turn on the vehicle it drives normally for a minute or so, and then starts to hesitate in first and second gear. Finally after a few more seconds it doesn't slip into any gear. However, when I turn off the vehicle and restart it, it slips into gear normally, but goes through the process again.
I checked for leaks--none. I checked the Transmission fluid levels and they are fine.. It sounds like an electronic problem to me.
Any ideas, similar experiences, or diagnosis?
Thanks,
Jeff |

We just had a similar problem, though a bit more pronounced.
What we found - incredibly - was that a rat had made a nest behind the engine next to the firewall and had chewed through one of the signal wires that lets the transmission communicate with the brains!
Replaced the wire and woo la! Problem solved. |
