On my wife's 07 MDX, we had been hearing clicking that we thought was the dreaded suspension noise that I had been reading about here.
We had passengers seated in the back say they thought is was coming from under the car, up front, right side. When I sat in the front passenger seat I heard it behind me down low.
We took it to the dealer who checked many components under the car, but didn't find anything wrong.
This past weekend while washing it, I did my usual routine when washing the roof. Stand on the running boards and grab the roof rails for support. When I touched one of the cross members, it moved slightly.
I then grabbed it, and found it was loose and did make a slight noise when moved, like a clicking.
To fix this, I put 2 small pieces of rubber about 1/16 of an inch in size between the cross member and the bracket in the roof rails.
Then I let my wife drive it the next day and asked her when she got home if the noise was still there.
She said no and wanted to know how I got rid of it so she could call the dealer and rip them a new one.
So for those of you hearing a clicking noise from somewhere and have a roof rack with cross members, check them to see if they are loose! |
