Got called by XM Canada yesterday and they offered the following:
$4.99 per mo for 3 more mos
OR
$11.55 per mo if renewing for a year
$9.99 per mo for a 2nd radio which has is also a 1 year
Free Delphi MyFi to go with 2nd account
Does this seem reasonable for Canada? |

I called tonight and was told by the rep that I should contact my dealer to see if they have any promotional codes - else it would be $14.99 a month - but they do have a $25 gift card on right now, which would bring it to 11.65/month + tax...
I'll call my dealer tomorrow :-) If not, I'll get a buddy of mine in the US to try and activate it for me... |

Just got a post card from XM Canada with the front saying my XM trial has expired. My trial actually expired at the end of February. The card was post marked Mar 24/08, either the day of, or day after I phoned and signed up for a years membership at the 1 year rate of $164.89 I renewed because we were driving down to Seattle from Edmonton for spring break and I wanted it for the trip. I asked if there were any promos or discounts and was told no. The rep even wanted to charge me a $30.00 activation fee since my trial had expired the month before, but when I balked he first lowered it to $15 and then waived it totally. So after paying the $165 per year, I get home after spring break and find the post card from XM dated a month after my trial has expired offering either 2 or 5 months free. The 2 months free is $14.99 for 3 month renewal, the 5 months free is $96.18 for the 1 year renewal. This is a $70+ rebate for a years subscription. So of course I called and demanded the discount be retroactively applied to my renewal and they did it without argument. | Thanks for the info. Our trial is up in about 2 weeks. They called me about a month ago with a promo and it was a sad promo, something like $149 for the year...I said "no thanks" and he tried to tell me that this promo could disappear at anytime, and I said "fine with me". |

Had our 08 MDX for about 5 weeks and yesterday the XM radio reverts back to all preview channels. Called XM Canada and they say that I am up for renewal. Stated we only had the service for 5 weeks and the XM rep says the only thing she could do is activate my account !
Dropped by dealer today and verified the 3 month free trial. They log my code into the XM Canada website and it says it is up for renewal. Dealer GM will contact Acura Canada on Monday, to sort things out.
Thanks for the tip about dealer promos....will certainly inquire about that when I actually have to really activate the XM account. |

And FYI, you can sign up for this online and not have to speak to an annoying XM rep! Go here https://activate.xmradio.ca/care/en/ and then enter your radio ID and your password should be your postal code, all upper case, no spaces. You'll then have to enter some security questions and change your password. After that you can add the subscription and it gives a place to enter the promo code and will confirm the pricing before you pay with credit card. I also checked the box to have XM contact me only via email from now on rather than phone and snail mail. |
