A couple of months ago, during the extreme cold and snowy conditions here in Toronto, my VSA and ABS lights came on during some minor skidding and stayed on. They stayed on for a couple of hours, even after turning the car off and on again and eventually turned off.
This happened a couple of times.
It hasn't happened since, even though I believe I've seen the ABS light come on briefly a few times during certain stops.
I had sensors replaced about a year ago after the lights had also stayed on.
I just took the car in today and was told there were no ABS/VSA error codes but there was a low voltage code and that my battery's low voltage had caused the lights to stay on (possibly a legitimate warning had occurred but the lights stayed on instead of just flashing).
My questions are:
1. Do ABS and VSA codes stay in the system until a reset or are they erased after a certain time?
2. Could battery low voltage cause the lights to stay on? |

Just went out for a drive and I could make the lights come on by sliding quickly over some ice (what's left of it) and bumps.
ABS and VSA lights would all come on, stay on for about 15 minutes, even after turning the car off and on again, and then go off.
VSA and ABS are non-operational when all the lights are on.
Did it twice.
Battery story the dealer gave me sounds like a fairy tale, especially since they say they charge the battery.
Oh well, back to the dealer.
*UPDATE*
This time dealer got the code for a VSA modulator and I'll be getting it replaced under my extended warranty (thank god I have it!) |
