Well, my '05 is getting close to the 45,000 mile mark and the tranny fluid 1x (or more) fluid change is one thing I've sort of neglected. I'd like to do it now that the weather is warming up. I searched through the forums but didn't find a link with a good description and/or pictures for this one. Does anyone have a link for this procedure? Seems pretty easy from what I've read: 24mm crush washer, lots of Z1 fluid, and a 3/8" ratchet. I remember reading a couple years ago when I got the MDX that is was a pain to pour in the new fluids but I can't find that thread. Also, that the '05 trannys have two fluid reservoirs (tranny and differential). Are there two separate drains?

Thanks!

Yes, that is the article I was thinking about. Last question: Is there only a single 3/8" socket bolt that drains both the transmission and transfer case on the '05?

Thanks,

I'll bet it's like my '06 which has separate drain plugs.

Yes, it is like the '06: separate drain plugs. I did the 45,000 mile service yesterday myself. Took about two hours. The tranny fluid was not very brown, but still pretty pink, so I did a 2x drain/refill and it looks great. Got a case of ATF-Z1 from my local Honda dealer and negotiated a price of $5.50 per quart. They wanted something like $8.50! Replaced the transfer case gear oil and did an oil change. Now I just need for the weather to break for a good cleaning. Thanks to a number of old forum postings, I was able to figure out how to DIY.
