I took a look at the parking sensors instructions for the '03, and the buzzer and switch get mounted inside the plastic trim and are nicely integrated (with the buzzer being hidden). Then, I took a look at the '07 instructions and it seems the bell/speaker is inside a single plastic box and gets mounted on the OUTSIDE of the trim? Ugh, not near as elegant a solution as in the first generation. So, I want to make sure I understand the instructions correct, and that it IS mounted outside of the trim?
Would this be the same for most aftermarket units as well? I didn't really want a cheap, plastic box pasted on the inside of my cargo area.... |

Dory,
I installed mine on the inside of the carpet and drilled a hole through the carpet where the piezo buzzer sounds. We hear it very well. I could not see any reason I would turn it off. That is the only reason to have it exposed. If I need to get to it, I pull off the fuse panel and reach in for it with my finger.
I did a write up when I did the install and think I posted pictures. if not I'll add one here tonight of you like?

Thanks Randy, I'll search to find your post.
We will need to turn ours off, because we tow in the summer quite a bit. If you don't turn it off when you tow, the darn thing beeps every time you're in reverse because it detects the trailer. Mostly a problem when you're trying to maneuver the trailer into a space because the beeping is very distracting when you need the concentration! |

I found your thread, it's here for anyone who wishes to read http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...&threadid=29888
Do you have any pics of the inside where you mounted the box?
Also, does the beep get faster, the closer you get to things? The ones in our last vehicle did a slow beep, then when you got within a certain range did a fast beep, then when you were quite close, it did a solid beep (meaning that if you kept going you were going to hit something). The different beeps were awesome for determining how far you were from the car behind you when parallel parking. |

Dory,
It does beep and increase as you get closer. There are volume adjustments and on and off settings.
