Navigation system and real time traffic - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a 2007 Acura MDX with a navigation system and real time traffic. The real time traffic is great but it only displays three levels of congestion: 0-25mph, 25-52mph, and over 52mph. There is a HUGE difference between 25mph and 52mph and I'd like to know which one I'm headed toward. I'd like to see the map display more granular information.

The online traffic map at houstontranstar.com (which I believe is using the same information that my traffic map is) provides congestion information at 5 different levels: less than 20mph, 20-29mph, 30-39mph, 40-49mph, and over 50mph which is a lot more useful.

Are there plans to upgrade and can I even upgrade my current system if there is?

Stupid question...Does real time traffic just come on when you're cruising or is there something I need to activate? couldn't find it in the Navi Manual. thanks for your help.

Isnt that a benefit of XM radio? Do you have XM scadagawd?

Yessir I do. Not too familiar with XM radio and only channel I found that had traffic info was for Boston. I'm up here in Vancouver, BC. I thought I read somewhere that the traffic info was shown on the Navi map. perhaps I'm mistaken.

cheers

I think it may be only available in certain US cities. Not sure about Canada. Try to drive to Seattle and see if something pops up.

It is available only in certain cities and it is only displayed in certain zoom levels. If you turn the "big knob" to change zoom you'll see a range labeled "traffic" and you have to be in that range for traffic to display.

Just got our 08 MDX a few days ago (Love it!). I was playing with the zoom levels one day and saw the note about traffic working in a certain zoom range. Now a few days later, that message is gone and I can't seem to find anything to turn it back on.

Is the traffic feature something that can be disabled?

Is this available or possible with a 2006 MDX? I've got XM radio but I'll have to check to see whether I have the traffic option. Would I have to simply update my Navi dvd for this to work?

The traffic is only available on the 07 or newer Navi system.

I found the answer to my question above. The traffic option was turned off, I had to go into "Show Icons" to turn it back on, and all is working again.
