So recently my MDX has started this little game with the dealer and I, it pops the "Check SH-AWD" Light and message on the dashboard and then disables the awd system. I have been to the dealer 3 times in the past 2 weeks and they tell me they are totally stumped. All they seem to do is reset the code and then tell me to come back if it turns back on. I will be bringing it back in tomorrow hopefully, and maybe we will be able to get somewhere with it, but I am wondering if anyone else has has this issue.
Thanks |

Bring it in, and leave it until it happens to them and they fix it. Make sure you get a very nice loaner. |

The Problem is, I have, 3 times now and even when the light is on and the car is doing it, they tell me they cannot figure out what is wrong and they reset the code and give it back to me. Personally I can't understand this because I would assume the car has enough smarts for them to be able to read whatever the car sees as a fault, but maybe the tech just reset it every time first thing and they had no diagnostic after that to test it with. It can't be that complicated either, they must have some list of things the car checks when you turn it on (as this issue only happens then) and then they have to go to the AWD section and just test the individual components. Of course if you want to be a conspiracy theorist like my friend, maybe they do know what is wrong but the fix is really expensive or complicated. Would anyone happen to know the different things the car checks when you turn it on (sensors and such) or know a place where I could look it up?
Thanks again!
(Ps. I Still LOVE my MDX and I would go though 20 if I had to to get one that worked, wouldn't trade it for the world :) ) |

A. Have them check the rear differential oil that it is correct oil...
B. Have them check to make sure the differentail oil LEVEL is correct....(05 RL's when the first debuted were filled with improper levels which triggered the SH-AWD warning system...)
C. Never tell your dealership HOW MUCH YOU LOVE YOUR MDX !!!!!!
You may want to mention "lemon law".....keep us posted! :1: |

So the day after I dropped it off (Friday) I got a call from the dealership telling me they found the issue. Apparently there was a leak or hole somewhere and water leaked inside flooding one of the fuse boxes and causing it to short out. Thinking about it my driver side carpets were pretty wet, even underneath my rubber floor mats and the insides of my windows would fog up and actually freeze and then drip down in the mornings. Anyway they are plugging the hole and then replacing all the damaged electrics and I should hear back from them on Wednesday.
Thanks for the support, I'll be sure to find out more on Wednesday. |
