The windows and moonroof of my 2007 MDX can open automatically when the vehicle is parked. The dealer is not aware of any such problem and mentioned that inadvertent pressure on my remote can cause this problem. However, I am sure that my remote is not triggering the problem.
Does anyone know of a resolution for this problem?
Thanks |

Is the car still locked when this happens? If not, then the remote is most likely causing the issue.
If the car is still locked and your windows are opening, then dealer needs to figure this out. |

| Thanks. The car is parked and locked. Despite this, the windows and the moonroof are opening (about 1/2 an inch or so) automatically. |

| make sure when you are unlocking your car you are not holding down the unlock button on the remote. I had this happen as well. Holding down the button activates the auto open of windows/moonroof |

My wife just told me this happened to her a few times. Not sure if she accidentally pressed down any buttons. |

I just tried that. It opened the windows and sun roof all the way, not 1/2" like the OP and my wife described. |

Me thinks everyone on this thread needs to read page 151 of the manual. :)
quote: Opening the Windows and Moonroof with the Remote Transmitter
You can open all of the windows and the moonroof from outside with the remote transmitter.
- Press the UNLOCK button once to unlock the driver’s door.
- Press the UNLOCK button a second time, and hold it. All the doors unlock, and all four windows and moonroof start to open. To stop the windows and moonroof, release the button.
- To open the windows and moonroof further, press the button again (within 10 seconds of step 1) and hold it. If the windows and the moonroof stop before the desired position, repeat steps 1 and 2.
You cannot close the windows or the moonroof with the remote transmitter.
So, if you accidentally hit the button a 2nd time after unlocking the doors, the windows/roof start to open and if you've released it quickly they won't be open very much. If you hold it, they're going to open all the way. |

Thanks for the info. That feature will come in handy when it is scorching hot outside.

One additional feature, you can close the widows and sunroof by inserting the key into the door lock and turning it to the Lock position and holding.
The windows and sunroof will close. You can use this feature regardless of how you opened the windows; remote or left them open after leaving the car.
Just another feature some might not have known was on the vehicle. |

Right. I believe you have to turn counterclockwise and release, and then turn counterclockwise and hold to close windows/roof. You can open them by doing the turn, release, turn hold clockwise. |

| I am not sure how locked car applies to auto-open features and such. I have exactly the same problem and windows and moonroof will open by themselves about 1/2". This happends when the car is LOCKED. NOT when I hit open button and not when I insert key into doors, etc... Problem was addressed to dealer, which as usual could not find the problem. So I refer to the original question posted here: "Does anyone know what is the problem and what is the solution to automatic opening of windows and moonroof when car is locked?" |

So, you lock your vehicle for the night, you come out to it the next day, and the windows and roof are open partially? And there is no possible way the unlock button got pressed while in your pocket on the way to the house or any other time? Is this happening daily, or just sometimes?
It's too bad the "security relock" feature can't be turned OFF. That way, you'd be able to see whether the doors were also unlocked when you went out. Which would prove that SOMETHING had unlocked the doors (which likely caused the windows to open as well). But it seems that feature only has a 30/60/90 option and no OFF option. Grrrr.
The only thing I can think, is for a week, when you lock your doors, do NOT put your fob in your pocket, bag etc. Keep it in your hand with fingers off buttons and set it somewhere with buttons facing up for the night. If anytime during that week the windows/roof opens, then you know it's not the fob being accidentally pressed. Then you can pass this additional info onto the dealer. |

This is exactly how this happens. Additionaly, it does not happend all the time. It does not happen right away. So it could occur anytime while the car is parked and locked. It has happen several times when it was raining outside as well.
First we were under impression that it is some sort of safety feature that opens windows a little to lower ambient temperature inside. Especially when it is really hot outside. But then we figured that it never closes them either:)
I have done exactly what you suggested and gently carried remote home and put it on the shelf. That did not help. Dealer explanation and several posts here do not apply as they all mysteriously refer to OPENING procedure accidental or not. We are talking about closed cars here and not opening. Oh, by the way, it does the same for me or my wife with different remotes. So if I am out of my mind and pressing buttons in my sleep, then maybe she does not.
I guess it would be appropriate to note that I use to be test pilot for Honda (VTEC testing) and later Honda rally driver and later than that worked with computer hardware and custom systems. So I do know a little about Hondas and technology:) Unfotunately, still drawing blanks. My only hope unless someone else knows of the solution is to flash programming on the car itself. |

Well that is freaky weird then! And if it's happening to TWO people, maybe there's a bug? Can't the dealer reset the computer and see if that resolves it?
How long did you have the vehicle before it started doing this? |

If you put them in your pocket and it gets pressed, and you walk away, they will start to go down, and when you get out of range (which isn't far with these fobs) they will stop.
To a previous poster, the doors being locked really don't indicate anything, since they will auto lock if you don't open them with in X seconds of unlocking them. |

| Anybody figure out what is wrong. We have the same issue and find our windows cracked by a half inch and we don't know why. |

Nothing. Nothing is wrong. You can refer to the comment before yours, or continue reading...
This is feature that is intended to help you cool off your car if it's been sitting outside in the sun for a while. If you press and hold the unlock button on your key fob, the windows and sunroof will open. Conversely, if you insert your key in the lock and turn it once to lock, and then again (but this time hold it in the "lock" position), all the windows and the sunroof will close.
In your case (as with the others who have posted in this admittedly elderly thread) the button is being held down long enough to open the windows a crack. Perhaps something is pressing on it in your pocket?

Adam |

| Yes I read all the posts and what is strange is that when I attempt to simulate what is happening by holding the remote as short a time as I can, the windows drop 2 to 3 inches. Not the half inch which is the issue. I think something is awry. |

How often does this happen? Is it something that you can replicate at the dealer?
