Car wash tips - Click HERE for Original Thread

Guys,

I've always washed my cars with some kind of liquid soap, and dried it with old house towels. Yeah I know, but at least I'm asking for help! What is the best car wash? Any particular sponge better than others? What about drying products? Thanks.
WHEN, I do it myself, which is rare, I use expensive liquid soap. Forget the name....get back to ya' on that.

I use these sponges that look like "slabs of sheep." LOL!! They are sponges with those loose white tassel like terry cloth material over it. Ya' know ?

When I dry, I use this thing called the absorber. I think that is what it is called. It is orange and it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. You can do the windows without streaking...the body without water spots. All you have to do is just keep ringing it out. THAT'S IT !

I use to use the ol' house towels. No Dice !
You can get it at any Automotive store. R&S, etc.

Good luck !
:D
Break out the leaf blower, it works great for removing excess water from all those places where the water likes to hide after wash & rinse, leaves you to simply wipe dry the damp areas, you will be amazed. I have been using this trick for years works great on motorcycles as well "00 Buell X1 Lightning".

Important Tips. Do not use the leaf blower if you are washing you MDX at 6:30 am on a Sat or Sun, your neighbors will (Hey, they're you neighbors).

Wear hearing protection, I have a Toro electric which makes one of the highest (annoying) ear piercing sounds known to man.

Not advisable to use a gas powered one since I am unsure as to whether or not you may end up splattering you new MDX with gas oil premix, (go electric).

Ouch!

Somehow the idea of blasting my MDX with a leaf blower just does not sound like a great idea- aren't you worried about kicking up rocks/loose sand etc. all over the finish?

In reference to rocks and sand, I guess I should have added the tip (sorry gulf war syndrome short term memory loss) that I use a shop vac filter held in place with a zip tie to prevent any nasty stuff from being sucked through and blasting my finish. Foam or paper will suffice.

Aloha & Mahalo,

To dry I use sythetic chamois(available any auto store, different brands $5-10), I think this is the orange stuff A4L referred to. Works great like he said, is soft, absorbs water, no streaks or water spots. Real chamois works too but is expensive and comes in irregular shapes.

Another trick to reduce spots is to take the nozzle or sprayer off the hose and let the water run in sheets down the car, works better than you'd think, saves you time drying.
