I have a question about heated seats. Driver seat has heater in the seat and in the back support, does anyone know if front passenger seat has the same setup or is it seat heater only. I never set in the passenger seat and this weekend my wife drove the car and I was seating in the passenger seat and used the heater. Back support did not heat up at all, dealer is telling me that the passenger seat only has the heating element in the seat and not the back support. Does anyone know if that is correct?
Thanks

Dealer is correct. The front passenger seat only has the bottom cushion heated due to the occupancy sensor. Not sure why that is the case but I remember someone posting here about that reason about a year ago.
If you have rear heated seats (part of the Ent package) it is like the drivers seat where you have both bottom and seat back heated. |

| Can anyone confirm if the back seats in my Sport/Ent is heated on the rear and back or just the rear like the front passenger seat? Yes the front passenger is ONLY for the butt and not the lower back due to the gizmos in there. That's OLD news as all heated front passenger seats are butt only.....:1: |

Yes, the rear seats feature heating elements in both the seat bottom and the back rest. How do I know this? I've actually sat back there on several occasions. As much as I love driving my X, there is something to be said for being a passenger too (recline the rear seat, put down the armrest, pop out the cup holder and plop in a grande peppermint mocha, fire up Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, put on the headphones and relax -- until the baby wakes up, that is).

| Nice, I did not know that back support is heated as well in the 2nd row. I need to try it out. I'm the designated driver all the time. |

I really don't think that is true. I am pretty positive that my 2004 Maxima had a heated seat back, it was one of the early models (3/2003) and didn't have the passenger sensor that came later in the model year. Not sure if they changed it after that. |

I think the post was referring to Acura/Honda models only. There are other manufactures that have heated back/bottom on the passenger seats. |

Hello - Though a member for about two years, first time back in awhile - so really am effectively a newbie. I was in the hunt for an MDX quite some time ago (have aways been a wannabe-fan) but for a variety of reasons got sidetracked. Back again in the hunt...and back on the MDX track - looking at used 06s as well as 07s/08s...as the X still seems one of the - if not the - the best combination of size, comfort and performance/features SUVs out there).
I have to say I find some of the idiosyncracies mentioned here - such as a butt-only element for the front passenger seat (and such things as the seemingly universally derided MP3/iPod interface), disconcerting... Has it always been this way with the Xs? Though we live in the Arizona desert, we venture north a lot to visit family and always find seat heaters a welcome feature (even on our "cold" Phoenix mornings)....so this is one of those "what's up with that?" things. Last I checked, front passengers have backsides also! Doing a search for octane requirements as well on these 2nd gen MDXs - hoping that, in addition to the seat heater oddity , Acura "fixes" that as well for '09. Don't know whether there are questions of comments in here - but appreciate the different perspectives out there. |

The "butt-only" heating element has to do with the air bag sensor, so I kind of doubt that this particular idiosyncrisy will be fixed in '09. I mean, technically it ain't broke, so there's really no incentive for Acura to fix it. I can tell you that in practice it works just fine, however.
As for the iPod, given that both the new RL and the up-level '09 Pilot Touring model both come with fully-integrated USB iPod connectivity, I think that it's a safe bet that this feature will be standard with the tech package going forward.
Octane? if you want to run regular the Pilot is the only way to go (and hey, then you're guaranteed iPod connectivity). Of course your passenger's back is still going to be cold...
