Hey All,
this is my first post but i have been following this forum for over a week but am i glad that i found this forum....so much useful information that i feel even more comfortable buying my MDX now...
I am planning on buying a silver MDX (tech/ent) with toupe interior..i am getting it for 43K....it is $500 above invoice and i actually took a friend who was a dealer himself for bargaining so he caught all the scams dealer try to putyou in like laser etching, chip protection plan etc etc..
i am just confused about accessories...the protection package (all season mat, wheel locks etc) is something that all dealers put on by default in seattle area (they do not give you a car pretty much without it)....i am thinking of adding roof rail so in future if i use 7 seats i have some place to add on a cargo bo for extra luggage (for most part i wont be needing it...)...
i was thinking of getting running boards but the car is pretty low as is so i can get it later (maybe from Tim :) ) if i need.
one thing i wanted your advise on...is the sunroof visor useful?
I am really excited about getting this one....i test drove X5, Lexus GX 450 and a few others and MDX was much better |

Friendly advise.
1. Get the car first. Just the car, nothing else from the stealer. Accessories can be purchase much cheaper elsewhere & most can be done by ourselves far better job than the "service dept." themselves.
2. I had SRB on mine. Functionality is average to below average (wish it could be 2" wider). Cosmetic look however, is 9 out of 10.
3. Recommend black interior but of course the choice is yours.
4. Roof rails together with crossbars or other hook-ups are helpful but debatable. Some like it lean & mean.
5. Sun roof visor? now this is a toss up. Had mine installed on the pilot. Seem to function ok. Had to take it down because I didn't like how it looks. Good luck! |

Thanks a lot for the reply..
actually the interior is black...it was a typo on my part :)....i had a BMW 3 series (silver with black) and i loved that color combination so i am going with the same...
i think your advice on accessories is pretty decent so i will pretty much not go for anything extra (maybe just roof rail for now) |

You're welcome.
Here's a pic of my steel blue with SRB, roof rails w/ cross bars, front garnish (rear garnish not shown), & painted bumper inserts. Hope this give you an idea & a chance for me to show off. :D |

WOW...sweet car man.....the more i look at MDX the more i love it
where did you get the bumper painted? |

Thanks. I love it too. Painted by a pro shop in Burbank, CA. Took them 2.5 days to get it done. 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of base, & 2 coats of clear. Finished with lite buff. Cost $500. Ended up tipping the guy $50 for doing such an excellent job.
Here's another angle of it. |

Acura should pay you lion and use your car for a brochure
Might improve sales :2: |

yeah man...this is amazing...thanks for all these ideas...i would hate to pay dealer an extra penny to do any of these things....
i really like the colow with the bumper garnish.....
one of the few negatives i read for mdx reviews were that a lot of people were not too excited about the bumper color...you clearly fixed that :)
i am just surprised why dealer did not offer this option...could have been easy money for them |

You made a good choice of the car. You wouldnt regret it, wait till you drive it to see how amazing it feels. Anyways, to answer your questions... like LS suggested do not get any accesories from the dealer unless you dont wanna go through the hazzle of installing the SRB and stuff yourself.
As far as the moon-roof visor goes, it depends on why you want it installed. I have it installed in my car. though i think it functions pretty well in reducing the wind noise, it does not do a good job in improving the aesthetics of the car. At least thats what i feel. |

Thanks for the encouragement....it is just a matter of me going to the dealership sometime this weekend and getting it...
i read a few reviews that visor greatly reduces wind noice (although when i test drove MDX the salesmen told me to lower rear windows and it almost eliminated the wind noice...he said it compensates for the pressure inside the vehicle)....
yeah i agree i will refrain from any dealer accessroies (just roof rail since i dont consider myself a super handyman and dont wanna mess up my new ride :)) |

| Right choice, man! ;) Congratulations! I know what I'm telling... Car is really super, you've gotta a lot of nice emotions... ;) Also I think car made with high quality.. I will write all problems if they will be with this car... Because there are no any good roads here :D and gas is also sucks:mad: So, if this car after 1 year will still alive without any problem - I will eat my hat:2: Good luck;) |

another question (now i am thinking weird scenarios)
will the power lift gate in ent package stop from opening if it hits an obstacle...my fear is my MDX standing in my garage and someone accidentally hitting that button causing the power gate to open....
any ideas? |

| Congrats from a fellow Seattle area MDX'er! What dealer are you using? I bought mine down at Acura of Seattle - Southcenter. |

| I didn't get any dealer accessories, just ordered the ones I wanted from Tim. Roof rack and chrome side steps. |

I've done this twice.
My X was in the garage with the garage door closed. My remote was in my pocket and somehow pressed the tailgate button which opened it. The tailgate opened and hit my garage door then closed automatically. I now have a couple of scratches on my tailgate.
Since everyone else is showing off their X, here's mine. :D

| I think we need to start a new thread for everyone to show off their MDX. Like a virtual showroom with all colors and mods on the MDX. :) |

I suppose you could but it ain't gonna be in here cause you will likely get your A$$ kicked for posting in the wrong forum. Where will it go you may ask? .... Resting in peace quietly in the binary cementary. |
