I am in Canada, and just recently had a type 4 Maintenance done on my 05 MDX, which costed $831!!! I think this price is crazy, and wondering if the Acura Dealership robbed me. Any thoughts?

Even if they changed pads/rotors on the brakes, you where ripped off!!:headslap:

Oil change - $40
Tire rotation - $20 (still a rip off)
Air filter change - $30-$40
Pollen filter change - can be upwards of $80 (a big rip off)

And then add in what they did with the brakes. Subtract from $831 and that is what those "inspections" cost you. Of course these prices are in US dollars. Double them if you want, it still doesn't look good.

Do you know exactly what work was performed? Did they just inspect or did they actually change the pollen filter, for example?

Labor cost is always high at the dealer. If they really did inspect all those things and they found nothing wrong, that should be a plus.

Any service that starts with check or inspect I avoid. If I think there is a problem due to performance, noice etc then I would pay to have it inspected. Otherwise just change filters and fluids.

Sorry to say you were indeed ripped off.

What they did is basically the 15,000 mile service.

There are many, many threads on the cost of the 15,000 mile service. Suggest that at your leisure you check them out.

Basically, they changed the oil and filter, the air filter and pollen filter. Note that they did not change the rear differential fluid which is done at 15,000.

This should have cost no more than $125.00.

As to inspections, I leave to you whether they in fact were done, and personally I do my own inspection - it takes about 5 minutes.

Ditto for greasing hinges.
