In general, do you have to buy a car from the same dealership you get service at to get a loaner and decent customer service?
I'm trying to locate a car that nobody seems to have around here. I may have to find one out of state... I don't want to get the shaft from my local dealership if I need to bring it in for service. |

| No you can buy wherever you want and get it serviced where you like. Service and rentals will just depend on the dealership. The service department isnt going to care that you bought from somewhere else. They want your money one way or the other. |

It is the little things where you will find a difference in attitude. Certainly if you are a customer of the dealer you are going to find that you get better treatment than someone else.
Just because a dealer does not have the specific vehicle in stock that you want does not mean that he cannot get it for you. Have you asked?

| Yeah, he said he looked but can't find one... Must be frustrating for them too b/c its like I'm waving money at them but they just don't have the goods. |

I agree. I am on my second MDX, both of which were purchased from non Acura dealers. The local Acura dealer gives loaners for any major service and warranty work on an Acura and hand wash & vacuum the car at any service, regardless of where it was purchased. In fact, when I was able to determine that the 01X I was looking at had been serviced at the local Acura dealer, the service department pulled the files on the vehicle and let me look at them before I made my decision to purchase. I have been satisfied with their service. While they have a quick oil change and wash special of $24.95, you need to watch them as their list of suggested maintenance is more than the manufacturer recommends. |
