I have tried searching for information on changing the cabin air filter but can only find info for the first generation. Pollen seasion is almost here and thought it might be time to check (replace) the filter. Has anyone done this? Any help would be greatly appreciated since I don't want to pay the dealer prices for something I can do myself. Thanks in advance.

It is behind the glove box.

I have not tried yet but will be doing it shortly myself. I think you need to release the two supports for the glove box, and the glove box swings all the way down. You will then see a tray that can be pulled out that contains the filter.

I will check the Service Manuals later tonight if someone does not post back with the exact steps.

The filter is around $30 on-line and I have no idea what the dealer would charge for this service and hope to not find out.

it is very simple, open the glove box and remove all contents.

Then on the right side of the glovebox, you will see a little black rod, push on that and it will come out.

Then press on the top rear corners of the glove-box, and you will see it flex and two bumps come out, the glovebox will then come down

Behind it, you will see the little tray for the filter.

Thanks for the quick and complete posts. I checked it out today and the filter was "gray" with a lot of leaves in it. I shook out the loose particles and will start to look for a replacement filter. The X has 15,000 miles and 15 months. Thanks again.

It is a royal PITA on the 1st gen X's and the same with my 04 RL. They finally simplified it on the all new MDX since many stealerships were being paid to to the job but were not. Customers could check to see if it was done because it was so much of a pain. I'm glad Acura finally simplified this process !

I urge my fellow members when changing this filter, make sure to spray Wurth (entire can) into the area where the fan is to remove mold and bacteria that will resides there. Don't bother with that cheap stuff from your local shops cause it no good. Tim recommended this to me a year ago or so...attached are pictures of it.....it smells awesome too ! :1: :1: :1: :1: :1: :1:

here is a picture of the RL filter area! PITA I tell ya's.....:1: :1: :1: :1: :1:

BTW: those thinking mine is ok, think again! My RL had only six or seven thousand miles and the filter was YUCKO! What a difference a new one and Wurth made.......

A pleasant LEMON smell! Start engine, roll all windows down, turn AC on lowest setting, point spray tube in fan intake area and sray the entire can. Let idle for 10 miniutes so it can kill all the mold and bacteria in your AC system. Then put new filter in. I do this at the beggining of each summer.....:1: :1: :1:

What is the part # for cabin filter for the 2007 and newer mdx? Same as 2006 or no?

I don't think it is the same. someone will chime in with it as I don't have that yet. Tim is always a call away....

After checking prices, I purchaswed a cabin air filter at NAPA (part # 4815) for $23. I checked on eBay for the filters and found some for less but after checking further found out they were for the first generation X. Acura eStore quotes a price of $48++ so I decided to do it myself. It took less than 10 minutes. I did place a label on the carrier stating the date and mileage when it was changed so the dealer can't say it needs to be changed.
