Can anybody take a look and let me know if these prices are legitimate deals? www.dealerdrop.com
They seem to be pretty far below CarsDirect pricing which I thought was a good price. If they are, then I need to re-evaluate. |

| They don't look out of line. A lot of the MDX prices are around invoice. Check invoice pricing here: Link |

meh I have found any service that relies on what people say they paid for a car to be very unreliable. Almost as reliable as asking people what kind of mileage they get....... |

Yah, if you hit that number you have done well. I always look at cars direct as a guide for pricing, they always seem to be very close. |

| I paid 40700 for my 08 MDX 3 months back. I think that link of yours is a good reference Sanjiva. It varies a bit based on the location though |

ebolavirs, I too thought carsdirect.com was pretty competitive but after comparing the carsdirect.com price with the prices shown on dealerdrop.com, i was a bit skeptical about whether people were actually getting MDX's for $1200-1300 less than the price carsdirect happens to be quoting me locally (bay area).
After seeing RajBull's post it pretty much confirms that carsdirect is overpriced. But of course that depends on what happens for me at the dealership tomorrow.
I'll report back. I'm thinking of printing out the dealerdrop page and showing it to the dealer. I wonder if that is a good idea ? |

Sure why not, are you afraid you might hurt their feelings ;)
BTW I've used Costco myself and I still was able to barter down more so. |

I usually start at invoice minus holdback and any incentives. It's a negotiation. The dealer will counter and eventually you will find out how low a dealer will go. It may happen right away and it might takes weeks. It helps to go to several dealers to get competitive pricing. A good way to make this easy, is to obtain internet quotes from several dealerships and then start them competing against each other. If you want any accessories, ask the dealership to quote with and without the accessories so you can determine their cost to see if you can purchase and install them cheaper yourself. Good Luck! |

Your location will make a difference. When I was looking, (just 2-3 weeks ago) it seemed dealers in California were less likely to bargain. Dealers in other states, Utah, Oregon, etc. were willing to go lower on prices. My experience in California was that I could get a few hundred off the carsdirect price but it took a lot of time, emails, phonecalls and was a big headache. I guess it depends on your patience level, if you are not set on a new one there was a nice looking used 2008 sport/ent at jody wilkinson Acura in Utah. Had 7k on it and he was asking around 43k, had some accessories already installed. Only reason I did not look into that one was it was not the color the wife wanted, I don't know if they are willing to bargain on it or not. |

| Went into a dealer in CT today to get a few spare parts. The parts manager indicated that they were hurting for business. My guess is Acura will have to put some marketing support on the MDX over the summer to move the vehicles especially if the gas prices continue to increase. If not early summer then they will have to put some $ up to move the 2008 models before the 2009 models arrive. 2008 is looking like it is not going to be a good year for the US auto industry. |

Thanks. I called the dealer this morning, and I tried to explain to him how I found out prices other people had been paying and he didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
But he told me to email him what I had found and he called me back and said he didn't think the dealerdrop site was legal but said he would be willing to sell a Tech Pkg for $400 above invoice, which is FANTASTIC!
I will be going this weekend with my wife to argue about color and hopefully get the car for that price.
Wondering about how that site can be illegal though since I plan to post my price on here and there when I pick up the car and get the exact price. |

The prices on these sites are pretty arguable. There is no concrete eveidence for the information they post on these sites. Either ways, $400 above the invoice would be close to 40,800 and thats a good bargain. Try to bargain into putting some free accesories, they would usually throw in the wheel locks, floor mats, cargo net or trays.
Just remember that you are boss (since you are the buyer). They need you more than you need them and dont let them get the pulse that you are desperate. Dont compromise on the color just because the dealer says he has another alternate available for you to drive away that moment. You are paying the big bucks and i feel you have the right to get what you want.
My dealer said it would cost me 1% more on the invoice to get the color and leather i wanted since he had to go to a different dealership. I said not a penny more than what we had agreed (I finalized the price before anything) and if he is not able to get it, i am walking out and getting the BMW 535 which was my other choice. I got what i wanted. The whole deal lasted about 15 mins and nothing more.
Hope this helps... and good luck with your purchase. :) |

| I got lucky with mine. I got the tech package about $300 below invoice. It all depends on location and dealership. |

Hi All,
I did get the car and just wanted to report back and say thank you for responding to my posts. I ended up getting the car for $40K even plus tax and dmv fees.
I got the car in the San Francisco Bay Area. Those sites ended up being quite helpful. The dealer kept telling me that anybody could post those prices but after I told him I'd go to another dealer and see if that is in fact true they caved in rather quickly. They tried to raise the price after I got in, but I stuck to my guns and got the car for the price I was happy with. |

| I forgot to mention that it was a 2008 MDX Tech Package. Bought in Sunnyvale. |
