I recently noticed that my MDX sounds much louder inside the cabin than it used to. With the radio and climate control off I can hear engine running louder (deep sound). Does anybody notice similar change or is there possibly something wrong with my MDX?

Our MDX has almost 11k on it now and it is surprisingly loud on the inside, I mean as far as engine sound goes. It almost seems like there is some vibration to the engine, the best I can explain it would be similar to an audi a4 1.8t, those long stroke 4 cylinders really put out some vibration...

Engine mounts? My '02 MDX had front and rear engine mounts break before 70k. I hope they resolved this on the newer models.

I have noticed that too! My Toyota Sequoia is much quieter. It seems that in the MDX, the sound of the engine is amplified inside. Unexpected for a "Luxury" brand.

Same here, disappointing to hear kije a 4 cyclinder engine sound inside the cabin. When I checked the oil life it was 70% but it sounds like it needs another oil change or so.

That's funny, I keep checking the oil life too! (it is now 60%) I was hoping it low so I can change the oil.

I agree with all of you. Not only that, I hear creaks coming from the interior fit and finish of the vehicle. I have had my MDX for 9 months now and can hear noises coming from the plastic molds on the hatch and door/window panels. Like the other guy said, for a luxury brand, this is unacceptable. I mean, wear and tear will eventually win out over several years, but I keep my car in immaculate condition and I hear all these noises in the first year.

I'll count my blessings then, since my X is as quiet today as the day I brought it home, and the interior is still as tight as a drum -- which is really saying something considering that at least a third of the miles on the clock were put there driving in Manhattan.

If you're having problems with squeaks and rattles, point it out to your service tech when you bring it in. I had a rattle coming from the glove box, which was fixed on the first try. As for your louder than normal engines, point that out as well. Not sure what it could be, but it doesn't "sound" right to me.

Adam
