Are there any quick fixes suggested for the leaking headlight sockets on the 05 MDX? I wasn't aware that it was a common problem, but I am glad to know I am not alone.
What a pita. (pain in the a..).
I have looked at the socket but cannot see where the water is leaking in from.
After 3 1/2 years and 75,000 miles, this is the only real problem I have with the car. Not too bad. |

| Are you sure its the socket? Its probably a seal. A few other members have had problems with moisture in the headlights, but more so on the older models. Did you have a car wash recently or heavy rain? |

Thanks for the help. We have had enough rain and snow to launch an ark this year. The moisture has been in the light all winter. It hasn't left.
It came close to being dry in both lights a week or so ago, but then the rains came back. Both are filled with moisture- not standing water. It is in both lights.
Thanks |

| Maybe try checking the top of the headlight to see if theres a major gap. Once water gets in, its hard for it to escape. If its warm out, just pull out the bulbs out of the sockets, and try to have them dry out. Might need to replace them. |

I've looked as close as I could, but I sure don't see anything obvious for a opening to allow for water. It is beyond me as to where it enters the light.
It is on both lights. |

| Yea, thats not a good sign. You might just have to get new ones. |

| before you get new ones, make sure that the bulbs firmly make contact and seal up properly, that is one of the biggest causes of simple moisture. Also open the hood and check the top and sides of the head-light. If you can see some gaps, fill it with some clear silicone calking. If not, then you may just need new head-light assemblies. |

Telstar, I have the same issue with my 04 headlights, especially after a touch-less car wash. As Midnight mentioned, I disconnect the high beams and allow them to air dry. The idea of disassembling the headlight assembly as per posts on this site crosses my mind from time to time, but I’m too chicken sh*t to bake them.
Yes, bake, like in the oven…. However, taking the lenses apart will allow you to thoroughly clean and apply a better seal. Over the past two years, a cloudy film has progressively formed inside the lenses. Soon, I’ll have no choice but to fix or replace them. |

I have the same issue with my 04 that I just picked up 4 weeks ago. Still waiting to see if the dealer will do anything for me. Its actually not too bad, but I would rather have it fixed as well. I'm guessing the dealer won't do anything, but we'll see.
waiting for spring in Eastern Canada! :D |

I finally just removed the bulbs and blew a hair dryer in the socket for about 3 hours. Both lights are clear now.
I will see how long that lasts. |

I have an 04 and also see moisture in mine after a rain or a wash. However it usually goes way after a day or so. I am assuming the warmth from the bulb dries it out.
I usually ignore it but maybe I shouldnt. ANy ideas?

| Try inspecting the headlights and seeing how the seals are. Maybe try putting painters tape over the top seals and see if the moisture still comes in. Just a way to see if thats the culprit. Or you could go as far as removing both headlights and put some silicone over all seals. |
