OK guys, my struts are shot (I can see them leaking after 100k+). I did the rear shocks with no trouble, but the fronts worry me mildly. I've done struts in my Civic several times, but with the tire off, I verified that I can get all the bolts loose...no trouble there.
The issue is that when the rotor assembly is drooped from the wheel being off, it seems like there's still some pressure exerted on the two large bolts that hold the strut to the knuckle. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but do I need to compress the spring at all BEFORE I pull the assembly? I'm just worried that when I pull those two bolts, I'm going to get some pressure from the spring pushing the strut down and into my axle boot. Am I being paranoid? I don't have a manual (I know, I know), but was hoping to wrap this up tomorrow. Anyone have a good write up?
take care,
