This is the first new vehicle we have had in many years and we are enjoying it tremendously. We took it on a trip to nearby Southford Falls CT State Park and I was pleased to see we got 19.3 mpg on a mix of 30-40 mph state routes (...a classical CD really helps mellow the break in period. 220 miles so far...)

Anyway, here is Southford Falls, their SUV filled lot, and our new MDX
I am not sure how to post multiple pics so this may take three posts.
Again, my thanks to all on this board that gave me a lot of insight on the purchase.

I could go SUV shopping here (Murano out of the picture near Q7)

And finally, the new baby.

Congrats on your new X and welcome to the forum!

PS - Where is Southford Falls State Park? Is it anywhere near Westport?

This is a prime picnic and popular fishing location and two of the trees in particular near the bridge are so filled with dozens of bobbers that it looks like they are fruit trees. It is nice in the spring when there is a good flow of water. The stream narrows into rapids and finally flows out under a covered bridge. There are nice walking trails.

Here is a site of CT waterfalls that has more info:

Thanks about the color. The dealer had to bring it down to Milford from Boston, so mile #1 for us started at 171. I sat in a black and in a taupe interior and felt the latter would be cheerier, but took at least some good advice from this board and got the leather warranty from the dealer. (I know, anything other than black is a rookie mistake) So, it just means to stop being an F-150 driving engineer in blue jeans (taupe & blue jeans thread) and start looking civilized.

Congrats + Welcome. Nice shot of the waterfall. Your steel blue clearly stands out from the crowd. Easy to find in the maze of a parking lot day or night. ;)

Well the brakes work reeeeally well !

I was heading home on interstate 95 entering New Haven and this Sentra rocketed up the US-1 on ramp and used the breakdown lane to squeeze between me and a concrete wall 10 feet away.

I moved over to the left lane to get out of the way, and then the car pulled left in front of me, slowed down and then slammed on its brakes. I missed him by about eight feet (...good thing I didn't buy the Ford Edge). He then stomped on the gas, cut straight across two lanes of traffic and went off the I-91 off ramp.

If I was driving the F-150 it would have been tempting to do something medeval on the Quinnipiac River bridge that I would of later regretted. Red-lining the motor with 300 miles on it just to be able to send a proper salute did not make it past the "bad idea!" part of the brain either. Which was good because the rest of it was seriously hacked off!

This was several hours ago and I am almost calm. I have commuted that section for six years and this is a first for me.

In response to kingmdx: Yes it does get better! With the fountain work I do we use all types of music for musical fountains. I dusted off "The only Classical CD you will ever need" and played Pachelbel's Canon in D. I (obviously) rarely listen to classical but wow, thank you ELS! The staff came out to see the new car this morning and had to coax me out of it. I could really learn to like this.
