| I've tried several searches, and it appears the 07 has a quite a few issues (it is the first year model after all)....a lot of them are fixed thru TSBs, but still worrying. Do you think it's worth buying an 07 assuming all the TSBs have been performed? Or save up for a 2008? Assuming of course most of the 1st year issues have been fixed. Any insight will be appreciated. |

| To me, the 07 has relatively few issues for a redesign (besides a sticky door lock mechanism fixed under warranty, mine has been problem-free). If the cost savings is more than a few thousand dollars, I would go for the 07, unless you just like the new car smell. |

| That's what I'm thinking too. What about the lengthly list of TSBs? With my luck, I'll get one that needs every one of them applied! |

I've got a 2007, and thus far it's been pretty much trouble-free. A TSB was performed for the HFL (music would come on after a phone call, regardless of whether the stereo was playing or not), a rattle was fixed in the glovebox, and my grille was replaced due to discoloration (apparently the new ones no long exhibit this defect).
Mechanically, however, my X has been pretty much bullet-proof. Of course I've only got about 7000 miles on the clock, so talk to me in another five years and we'll see what tune I'm humming then.
What you've got to ask yourself is whether or not the savings you bring home today will make up for the difference in value between a 2007 and 2008 when it comes time to sell.
Regards,

| This is ridiculous! I just saw the vehicle Friday afternoon and it's gone! It's like the gold rush! Apparently the recession hasn't affected ppl purchasing MDXs! |

Found another one...24.5k...listed for 38,999. That seems like a lot of miles for a 2007, so I'm thinking I have a bit of bargaining room. What's a fair price for this vehicle?
Trade-In: 30300
Retail: 36925
Private: 33560
I'm thinking fair value is some btw/ the priv party value and trade-in? Or is that too aggressive? |

"Fair' price, unfortunately is a highly subjective term. If it's CPO, I would go for 33K, since, as you noticed, they may not stay long on the lot. |

The good thing about TSB's is that they're mostly fixable and except for the steering drift, don't affect safety/driving. |

| Also through the certification process, the vehicle gets all the latest TSBs applied. 24500 miles aren't a lot on a normal basis, but seems quite high when considering a 2007 model car. Something to concern me that so many miles were put on the car in such a short time frame? |

| There's no timing belt until 100k on these? So the 30k/60k/90k services are just fluids (coolant, OF, brake, transmission, and VTM)? |

| So this guy is not budging from 38999. I don't think it's possible that he has no room for negotiation...is it? |

I would not pay that for a used 07, for a bit more you could get an 08
I haven't had any issues with my 07. That vehicle has seriously high mileage, I wouldn't pay over 32K, but YMMV |

2007 and 24k miles.. reminded me of another thread where one of the guys traded in his 07 for a 08. Look at " '07X traded to '08X" by "victorp". Maybe you are looking at his car. If yes its really a small world .. why dont you talk to victor and find out what he sold it for..... :2: and negotiate to the dealer from there |

| I was thinking around 35k, which is what an 07 tech sold for in Dallas. but certainly not 39k. I agree. I've PMd victorp...it would certainly be a very small world if this was his. Although he says his seats are discolored...so may not want it ;-). |

private party sellers are often loath to take a big hit on 1-2yr old cars because they are upside down on their loans. Sucks for them! If the market will pay dealer retail for a private party car then the more power to them. Most of the time though if they really want to sell the car they will have to end up taking a fairly significant hit through depreciation.
Don't get stuck with some-one else's depreciation, I would refuse to pay any more than KBB private party "Good" condition price.
KBB price without any options added
Excellent
$33,570
Good
$31,535
Fair
$28,890
This guy is smoking crack if he thinks he'll get $38K for a used MDX. That is unless he pimped it out like our ukranian friend :D |

| The highest bid we got for my wife's previous '07 X tech& ent. package with BSM and sports runner was $36,600. I won't be surprise if you won't find it on the dealer lot anymore. The seat discolorations didn't meet the standards of my wife but for my standards and if it was my car, I would definitely keep it. |
