It makes me happy to see pinoy/pinay who drives the new X and I'm wondering if any of them joining the forum. Let me know if we share a great taste and lifestyle (despite living in debts) with cars.
dj-mdx2
I'm one of two here in my city that drive an 07 MDX. A friend bought one coz he liked it before and liked it even more when he had a chance to drive mine.

My avatar is my old 2001 MDX - look at the front license plate - proudly Pinoy!
ReyO
Kamusta mga kababayan!!! 9 months since I got my X, now with 6000 miles on it. No issues so far and very much enjoying the ride. The X seems to be very common in the Chicagoland area... can't mis a day w/o seing one.

Nine out ten incidents when I'm in a store/public, Filipino comes up & ask me if I'm flip. Must be of my dark skin & facial profile. Heck, some even assume I am one & start speaking Tagalo with me. Good thing I have some flip friends, & they teach me some common terms, nuff for me to response kindly back.... My 2 nieces are both married to Filipino. I have to say, flips know how to enjoy life & tons of fun with parties. ;)

BTW, what's an "eternal blue" 02 MDX? Don't think I recall that color.

You get use to dodging them, but for the most part they get repaired fairly quickly.

were you at in chicago, man? LUV the place with a capital L. driving that road by lake michigan and passing by buckingham fountain takes me back to roxas blvd in the p.i.; i swear that they resemble each other, what with water on the right and the lay of the land on the left. been there twice, and i love it more than ny. if only the property taxes in chicagoland is better than new jersey's i would have moved there in a heartbeat. snow be damned, i've got an mdx that can handle the worst!

I use my company car most of the time...:D The X is used for weekend family runs with in the Southwest/ Northwest suburbs, seldom to Chicago. Potholes are not much of a problem since you can still dodge them.... door dings and scrapes are the more frustrating unavoidable things that can happen in the City primarily due to limited parking space... :3:

If you are talking about outside the city limits, then not as quick. Other cities wait til late April/May before even attempting to repair them. I guess I am just use to scanning for potholes.

I'm not talking about the burbs. I'm talking about LSD, 94, 55, 294. Quick is not a word to describe the pot repair crews. There is a difference between looking out for pothole and the freaking craters. you can't avoid.

I'm very glad to find out there's quite a number of Pinoys and Pinays who love to drive the new X and share a common taste as far as car goes. I was assuming most of them drives a bimmer and lexus but not X. It's really great to hear from you all because I'm a first timer for an Acura.
victorp
Kabayans! What are the chances for all pinoys/pinays meeting up with each other like a reunion with all the X at one big parking lot of some sort on one of these days? Perhaps during summer or so but where?

I really enjoy driving the X which took me 24K miles on my first year owning it and we were even trying to control our trips because some of our trips were rent a car. We just moved here in US mainland last year from Guam and the vast areas blew us all away driving for nights and days. We could travel the whole island of Guam in 4 hours driving and the whole island is only 35mph highways while 15mph in residential areas. It was like that for 15 years and suddenly we realized how much we enjoy driving.

Born in Cebu City but raised in BF Homes Las Pinas and fascinated learning different dialects from Philippines(PI). But we stopped by Las Pinas from Guam before flying to US. Guam to PI is only 3 hours flight and that's one of the perks living in Guam. Pinoys in Guam doesn't want to be called "Flips" because we find it offensive back there and I guess we should take it differently here US mainland. I don't know why but it was like that then before I got there 15 years ago. Laters kabayan!

Nope. And I didnt do any street races either. Anyways Im just wondering how long the shocks/suspensions last in places like Chicago or NY with a lot of potholes/craters! And do you guys actually attempt to avoid them while driving in the city streets? Im sure the drivers behind me thought I was stupid for trying to avoid EVERY pothole/bump on the roads in Chicago and for slowing down almost to a complete stop while going over railroads!!!:D

Potholes dont last all year. Theres 2 seasons, winter and road construction. :3:

is correct, why should I compare a Philippine street to a Chicago street? That is irrelevant. Compare Apples to Apples.

:7: FYI, Continental Acura of Naperville IL is giving 15% off on accessories & labor for 2001-2008 models. You may be able to get an extra 5% from Bob Williams-Parts manager. Got some of my stuff from these guys. Transactions were straight forward no BS.

potholes are potholes, man. ny, chicago, detroit, or manila. they are holes in the street, no matter what part of the world you are in. your driving style and dynamics don't change just because you're in a specific place.

what's lamentable though is that you can almost expect philippine roads to be gouged anytime the rain starts pouring hard, due to pisspoor construction from contractors cutting corners to make up for the money they ponied up to get the contract. they're also not the only thing you have to worry about. there's the occasional unmarked open manhole, and the never ending road construction; you know, stuff that makes your drive more interesting. that's why there's a filipino saying "if you can drive here you can drive anywhere". anywhere, except where people actually follow driving laws. but that's stuff for another thread altogether.

I used to be a roadie now switched to MTB and yet still ride it on the road. My back was askin' for at least two inch suspension from the cruelty of asphalt and cement.

My new ride now is '07 SC Blur with full XTR and Crossmax wheels. Laters...

Hafa Adai Kabayan, I'm formerly from Dededo City, Guam and before I left the island, the Pinoy who owns the Acura dealership were closing and now I wonder who took over the Acura dealership. You don't have GPS issues I reckon! How many new X you see there and are they mostly military?

I don't think the cose of shipping would be the issue. It's the tax you have to pay once you get to the customs facility. I heard the tax could get as much as the value of the vehicle which is ridiculous of course.

Hoy!

We just picked up our 2008 X last Tuesday. We drove it down to Otay Marketplace and saw "another" Pinoy family driving their white MDX in the parking lot, checking us out. :)

We don't speak tagalog but we're 100% Filipino.

I think we need to install running boards. The in-laws have trouble climbing taller cars.

Congratulations! Enjoy your new X and be safe! You're a true Pinoy with pinoy values by considering running boards for the olds.

Last week, I was parked side by side with another new X and I said " Kamusta"? to the other driver whom I thought looks like pinoy. He yelled back to me and said " WHAT"? The guy was upset and I apologized for speaking wass up! in Filipino language. He just stared mad at me without saying anything and walked away. I'm thingking that he should be flattered being mistaken as a Pinoy.

Thanks for the big welcome guys. I'm saddened about the ocean tragedy, I'll pray for the families. I haven't tried Chelada yet but I soon will! I hope it goes well with pulutan!

BTW, the wifey likes the running boards ($400) and I'm thinking of going kuriput and installing myself. The stealer wants 700 bucks for the running boards plus installation. Forget that, I'd rather buy more rice.

If anyone has a link for a recommened brand of running boards at a great price, pls PM me.

Thanks!
