Anyone tinted their tail light for that DUB look? I use to hated it but I some how wanted to have it done on my X. I guess I'm getting bored.

Any recommendation or what's a good brand or method to have it done? I've seen very crappy ones on the street numerous times.

I need to replace a cracked taillight, so I plan on using it to practice tinting. I've seen good results using VHT "Nightshades," followed by some clearcoat on other cars. I think the process involves thoroughly prepping the taillight, by using dishwashing liquid to get off any grime/wax, then using rubbing alcohol to wipe off any remaining residue. Once the surface is clean, you can wetsand using very fine sandpaper, and then cleaning the surface off again with rubbing alcohol. The surface must be absolutely clean before applying thin light coats of the tint...apply multiple coats as necessary and then clearcoat after everything is dry.

I also agree NightShades is a great product. I used it on the tail lights of my old Honda Accord some years back. You just keep applying a coat to get the desired color. I used 3 coats to get a smokey color. And it doesnt distort the light like a plastic cover would.

Nightshades comes out blotchy and gets really dull after a few weeks....Go to a body shop and get it done properly candied and cleared. Should not cost more than $150-200 or u can try jonstintedtails
He does a very good job at reasonable prices..

Bunch of guys on my Volvo site have used Jons with great results. No problem recommending them as well.
