| I am new to the site so excuse me if this has already been asked. I would like to purchase 22" wheels for my MDX but I wanted to know if the aftermarket TMPS from tirerack.com would work properly? I went to the dealer and they informed me that bigger wheels would throw off the speedometer, put strain on the tansmission (due to all chrome wheels), and the TMPS would not work. Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. |

I do not know about the TPMS not working on 22" wheels but will find out if they work on 20" RonJon Legend II chromed wheels at the end of the upcoming week.
As far as throwing off the speedometer, it depends on the size of tires you want to use. If the size of tires chosen as similar turns per mile (within a few percent) you should be fine.
I would be more concerned about getting the right offset, bolt pattern and the right size center bore (64.1mm) the the overall size of the wheels.
As far as straining the transmission that is purely hilarious for a vehicle that is supposed to be capable of hauling a 5,000 pounds trailer. |
