I've been reading past posts for the last few hours trying to find someone with a similar situation. I've had some luck but want to verify a few things
2002 MDX Touring
I have a set of aftermarket rims 17x7 with offset of +40 that i'm not using. Will I have any problems with fitment and clearance? Does anybody have images to see the fitment?
Also, I'm looking to increase tire width to 255/60/17 instead of the stock 235/65/17. Will this size work fine on a 17x7 wheel? Anybody with first hand experience with this combo?
I know there may be a possibility of a slight decrease in gas mileage going wider, but what should I expect? .5mpg, 1mpg difference? With the skyrocketing gas prices these days, mpg is a bit of a concern. Gas in several places here have top over $4.00/gallon for premium
Last, I'm looking at basically 4 tires per recommendations on the board.
1. Fortera Tripletred
2. Assurance Tripletred
3. Fortera Silent Armor
4. Dueler H/L Alenza
I will be mainly using the tire in the spring, summer and fall in Chicago weather with mixed highway/city driving. I plan to put some snow tires on the stock rims for the winter.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| On tirerack's tire specs, 255/60 seems to typically have a rim width range of 7"-9" so you should be fine. I'm also trying to see some pictures of how 255/60 would look. Anyone with pics? |
